AniDB metadata agent

I would need the agent log, not the system log to troubleshoot this. Look in the logs directory under PMS Plugin Logs (I think), there should be a com.plexapp.agent.anidb.log - post that and I'll have a look!

Define "option in the preferences"..? It should turn up as a possible agent for any movie or tv-show section. Could you post the agent log file?

If I go into the PMS and then try to select which agents to use there is only the Personal Media Shows and TheTVDB agents available to select. THe anidb agent is in the same folder as TheTVDB agent, so I would assume it should show up.

Ok, so could you post the log file for the agent then? Also, how did you install - via Unsupported Appstore or manually?

I’m not sure how to post the log file for the agent. I manually installed it, well I put the agent file in the plex folder in finder.

You can upload the log file as an attachment to a forum post..? The log is found under the Logs/PMS Plugin Logs/ directory in the Plex directory. What "file" do you mean, do you mean the zip file? It should be unpacked. Try removing and installing via Unsupported Appstore instead, and see if that helps (see the first post in this thread).

I’ve run into something really odd. Plex seems to detect all the files in my folder for Anime series, but it doesn’t pass them along to your agent, instead they are just silently ā€œignoredā€:

But AniDB log says nothing, it's not called or if it is, it doesn't print anything. I've added Local Media as a secondary agent on the AniDB list, but it doesn't make any difference.

Found it! If you have filenames with ONLY the episode number, like "01.mkv" or "01 -.mkv" or similar, it will not show up in the list.

Is this a limitation of Plex or the AniDB scanner?

Update: Doesn't matter what it says, it simply cannot be just an episode number, so calling all the episodes "meh" (like, "01 - meh.mkv" "02 - meh.mkv") works fine and will show up

The AniDB agent doesn't do any scanning, that's the scanners job. The agent only receives whatever name the scanner has picked up, so if the files aren't found it's the scanner's fault. I would think that the standard scanner requires a name since most metadata agents work on names scraped from the files rather than file hashing like the AniDB one.

Would anyone like to do a step by step for me?

I’ve downloaded and added into my PMS plug ins folder… then what? I’ve restarted PMS, checked in both PMC and PMS and cannot see where to get started. Help would be appreciated. my PMS isn’t recognising the Berserk series and I really want to watch through Plex.

Thanks in advance

Mid 2011 iMac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2

thanks for this plugin!

is it normal, that the whole series is refreshed when one single file is added?

in the case of very long series like One Piece this causes trouble.

If you're unsure about how to install, perhaps it's better if you use the Unsupported Appstore version instead (see initial post for link). Not sure what you mean by "recognising" though - you should be able to watch the series even without metadata. If not, there's something wrong with the format of the files. It's the scanner's resposibility to read the files and parse video/audio formats etc., an agent only provides additional metadata about it.

I'm not sure, but I think that the scanner will re-scan the entire folder and trigger a refresh of metadata. Note that this is the scanners doing (ie. Plex internal), not the agent.

Are you sure you put it in the right plugins folder? I have win7 and I dont know much about OSX but I mistake to put it on the programs folder instead of the appdata folder. Just right click the Plex icon on the taskbar and open plugin folder... Again not sure what is the equivalent on OSX.

There is a bug I think for 100+ episodes like fairy tail. It only shows up to 100 but i have 161 episodes… and it is numbered incorrectly

update: used this http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/31081-better-absolute-scanner-babs/ guess its fine for now. probably needed on first post? some serialized anime needs it…

Perhaps it could be mentioned, but again it's not the agent, it's the scanner so it's not really my responsibility. If I create a FAQ I'll add this also.

Help if somebody can. It will not let me click AniDB on in agent preferences, it shows up but it is greyed out.

That's as it should be - it doesn't allow any other primary agents to contribute so since it's the only primary agent of the stack it makes little sense to disable it.

Hello.

It’s just cool! Thanks for great plugin and your hard work!

Plugin just fine: auth pass, scan episodes. But I have some problem. When I add ā€œlong durationā€ and many series anime like ā€œFairy Tailā€, ā€œNarutoā€ or ā€œOne Pieceā€, Plex show wrong episode number.

For example… I have file D:\complete\anime\Fairy Tail[HorribleSubs] Fairy Tail - 163 [1080p].mkv, but after scan (AniDB metadata agent) Plex say it’s not 163, but Episode 63. Another example file D:\complete\anime\One Piece[HorribleSubs] One Piece - 579 [360p].mkv, but Plex after scanning say ā€œit’s episode 79ā€. Same thing with another series and title.

It’s plugin or plex scanner error? Can be fixed?

The numbering of the episodes is all down to the scanner. Check if the BABS scanner perhaps handles this better, haven't used it myself but it's supposed to be better for shows with lots of episodes.
