Another topic about 4K buffering on Samsung TV (2015)

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: 2.012 Samsung UE55JS8000
Hello everyone! I’m new user to PLEX. I was enjoying it until I decided to watch some 4K HDR movies. Some times is buffering every 10-15 minutes, other every 2-3 minutes… Everything is wired with 100Mbps through my router. I’m using my laptop as a server and my Samsung UE55JS8000 (2015 Tizen model). All my 4K video files are HEVC with AC3 audio and external SRT subs. I’ve selected manually Direct Play so nothing is transcoded or streamed (remuxed). Things I’ve tried: editing the Samsung profiles; also tried deleting the Samsung profiles from the Plex Profiles folder; editing the buffers on my TV’s player… nothing helped. Is there any solution to this problem? If not I will have to go back using my TV’s internal media player with USB HDD but I really like how everything looks with all the info, the posters, the settings that I can adjust about the subtitles - position, color, size…

Are you sure that there is no a DTS track on your media files, I just checked my logs and found that mine was trying to play DTS when the Tizen app was not set to play DTS.

I’ve changed my router with 5GHz model, disabled security connections… and everything is fine. And yes, I don’t have any videos with DTS track, because my home theater system plays only Dolby Digital trough optical input.

If you’re on a wired connection the router shouldn’t matter. In my experience with Samsung, WiFi is much faster than wired. I have run many tests on fast.com through the tv’s browser to get my antennas positioned correctly. Wired connections typically top out at 65Mb/s, while I average 240Mb/s over my WiFi. Much better for those high bitrate videos.

Are the movies transcoding? Look at the dashboard through the web app and see if it is transcoding or direct playing. If it is transcoding then there is a problem with your files, i.e. DTS audio. It will also show you what codec it is playing. Do you know what bitrate your 4K videos are?

Everything is ok. I don’t have the problem from the original post anymore. I’m using only direct playing.
