I have a 950 XL Unlocked. Tried both 10.0.14393 and 10.0.15014. Same result with exception of Battery life and performance favoring 10.0.15014. I also have a Lumia 640 XL. I have yet to try the latest build of Plex on the phone.
I believe the biggest issue with how Plex is developed is that it still uses the built-in media player where others do not. Hence why others do not have this many issue as Plex does. I am running just about every media type app on both phones and I do not have this many issues if at all.
I am not overly concerned about Video as I do not use it on my phone that much, if at all. Music is where I play the most.
This morning’s commute was just plain horrible with Plex. I do have logs but not sure where I need to send them.
During my drive to work I have at a minimum 3 bars. I start Plex and fails to connect to my PMS, however I was able to tell it where to go. After successfully connecting to my PMS I pick a album and press-hold the tile to Play. Song starting playing fine. About a 90 seconds or so into the song it starts, sound garbled. This where everything starts to go to crap. I pause and restart the song. Same, garbled. I then back out of the album and try a different one. Same, garbled. Ok so I kill Plex completely and restart the app. I pick a song and it seems fine for a bit and the stops playing so I wait, nothing. I skip to the next song, nothing.
At this point I power cycle my phone. Launch Plex and pick a new album, but the song playing is from the previous album selection that I made prior to rebooting my phone. So for fun I let it Play, it stops roughly mid-way. I skip forward and this time it picks a completely random song from my Playlist. This song plays for a bit an stops. At this point album and track selection plays a song from either my Playlist of from a previous selected song in another album.
During the wonderful ordeal there was an error on almost ever song I selected and or skipped to.
Side note: Please provide a way to configure Video uploads to that we can pick a separate folder/album other the one that we set for photos.
Also battery drain is still an issue with 3.2.5, if any thing it is worse. While using Plex this morning my phone was super hot. My commute is only about 30 minutes and I only have 68% battery where I normally have 90%+. Plex is on the top of my “battery usage by app” with 38% in the past 6 hours. Next in line is Settings at only 5%.
PM me the log. Let me know approximately what time specific events occurred and what songs you were playing so I can check what is going on. This definitely does not sound like normal behavior.
You mentioned this was while you were on your commute, so am I right that you were using mobile data? Have you noticed these same type of issues on WiFi or in your home?
Yup, sure does. I also get, “Failed fetching the PlaylistQueue from server”. I got this when on 3/4G as well. I also upgraded my PMS to 1.3.4 earlier today. No improvement. Do you want my logs? If so, where do you I send/upload them?
You can attach them to a comment here so others can also look in case I miss something, or if you don’t want to share with others, which is understandable, you can PM there log to me.
You log doesn’t show you trying to play anything. Can you recreate the issue and then get me the log right after?
That is what I did. I turned on logging and recreated the issues and then sent the logs. I will try again
Logs sent. Did you receive them?
No, I do not have new logs from you.
Doh. I thought it was today. I see it from back on the 4th. I’m get back to you later.
Hey. That is the first set of logs you sent. I looked and those and there was nothing in there about you playing back a song. The log had 4 seconds of activity. You said you were going to try recreating the issue and sending new logs.
I did. I had logging enabled since your first request. So may there is an issue with the log collector. Sorry but I am not surprised knowing that the app has many bugs in it already.
Look I am try to be patient but there seems to be road block after road block and in honesty this is unacceptable. The software is at best shaudy. Plex really needs to a deep dive into why there are so many issues over and over and over again and again. If your developer does not know how to correct these issues then maybe hire someone who does. There are plenty of apps for the Windows 10 Phone from major players, and some not so major, that do not have even remotely these many issues. So obviously they know what they are doing.
Stop applying band-aids and find a permanent solution. Start from scratch if you must, but either way this simply needs to stop.
I understand your frustration and not to belittle your problems, but the issues you are seeing are not normal. Yes, there are reports of specific problems, which are typical, but not the catastrophic type of problems you say you are having. I really would like to help look into this but if your logs don’t aren’t providing info, I don’t know where to go from here.
So we can assume that the garbled music will be fixed?
Windows 10 Insider Build 15031:
“We fixed an issue where pausing a streaming track, for example in Groove Music, would result in no more re-buffering when playback is resumed, leading to choppy playback audio.”
