Since everyone here feels I’m in the wrong, I won’t use caps then, I’ll just asks and wait:

  • I’ve actually got a free month code, wanted to give things a try. But as I read through, it said free for a month, then charged $4.95 a month. I wasn’t sure if its a binding contract if I agreed, so I fill up the subscription billing for 3 times in 1 month to get a clarified answer. Twice to ask for clarification, once to see if anyone gets the form. Never got any answer. Is it so wrong wanting to be clear?

  • I’m legally blind, but I do what I can best. Takes me time to read, so instead, I opted to ask and get answers more direct. Is it so wrong to ask when you have some limitations?

*I’ve tried to ask for help 3 times and all through the same format filling. I apogee to the person I was mean to, as I did not know they don’t work for Plex. No excuse for me and I’m really sorry. But being asked to go back to the same line again and knowing you won’t get anything out of it, is it not frustrating and as though being played like an idiot?

Is asking for some assistance really just that hard? Someone thinks it’s funny. Another feels you can’t read. I might not have seen that, but hey, I am a idiot for not seeing it right?

Seriously, is asking for just some help that hard?

You can cancel the $4.95/mo at any time. You’ll go back to a non-Plex Pass account instead of being billed again. You can also choose to delete your Plex account if desired.

I’m not sure how the signup process works for a free month. The rest of your account settings can be accessed here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/account

there is no contract.

you can cancel any time

like most services, if you use the free trial, it will continue after the free trial and start billing, unless or until you cancel.

You can easily cancel in your account settings. There is no hassle, but you should cancel early enough before billing date so there is time for the cancel request to process.

@Jcquantum I checked with the team that handles those messages. They did reply back to the email address on your account. Looks like you typed that in wrong when creating your account. Might want to fix that so responses actually get to you.

Thank you all for the responses. That’s all I wanted in the first place. I’ll look into the email mistyped, but I am getting promo emails from Plex, so I don’t see why thats wrong. Nevertheless, I will check as I’m not perfect. I should know from my disabilities.

Thanks once again for the clarifications from all

To be clear. The domain you put in is “…comil.com” I could be wrong, but that doesn’t look right to me.

hi

I’ve been mystified by the whole email thing myself. Just to clarify, I didn’t know where this email address was created. I just assumed it was created because there was a security thing. I’ve always had an issue and confused by this as I log in with what I created, which is now correct on this account. Now, can someone tell me, how do I delete the obviously mistaken account? I mean, I don’t even know how I got that created. I always was under the i.pression of being g in this correct account. Thanks

Also thank you for bringing my attention to this more that I logged out of all Plex and logged back in each. Which also answered quite a bit of questions I’ve had and can’t figure what I was doi g wrong. Thanks!

You might have accidentally typed in your email wrong and was on the “create account” page instead of “sign in” page and ended up creating this second account. If you want to delete it, use a private/incognito window, sign into that bad account, launch Plex Web, then from the accounts page there is an option at the bottom to delete.

Big problem! I went through the steps of logging out, used the login of the wrong username to delete the wrong account. But now I can’t login with the correct account as well. Need some help here? Thanks

So, my account problem has been resolved. Thanks once again.

I am wondering a question, why is an android tablet and phone on a same network, but different subnet need the pass in order to play media, while a Xiaomi box (android as well) be able to play media without that pass restriction? Thanks

Mobile apps need unlock, android tv is not mobile
You don’t need the pass btw but you can unlock the app for a one time fee of 5 bucks.

Oh OK. Thanks! So mobile anything would need the pass regardless of subnet. Got it. Thanks

No… you have misunderstood…

As Coxeroni pointed out:

  • the mobile apps aren’t free
  • you can unlock the by having a Plex Pass (monthly, yearly… payment) or doing a one-time activation (one-time payment)

Sorry, not a native speaker and I type my answers on my mobile without thinking a lot
They might not always be 100% clear.

Thank you both! But essentially its still just a preview 3 minutes of the media unless a payment for a pass. I thought it was free (for the player) while in the same network/subnet and pay for a more robust feature. But thanks, I’m going to get the pass soon enough, so I was just trying to understand all the different things on Plex before I put in costs.

You don’t need a Plex Pass.
A Plex Pass is a monthly membership. This membership will also grant you access to the mobile apps (among other features). However you don’t need to be a Plex Pass member to unlock the mobile apps. This can also be done by having a one-time activation for that app platform (e.g. Android, iOS).

The article linked by Coxeroni is detailing what parts of Plex are Free and for what you need to pay.

Ah, thanks @tomBOH that’s great! Clarifies it for me more.

In my quest leading to my final steps (as I wait for prices to drop for hardware I want to get) if I wanted to move from one media server, would it be hard? Can I maintain 2 server on my account (any limits?)?

I’ve also seen some posts about permission limits on allowing a user on one server, but not another.

Sorry fellow Plex users, I know I have lots of questions.

There’s no limit to the amount of servers you can run in parallel. Once you use more than one, there’s certain technical dependencies you’ll need to deal with.
As for migrating between servers… there’s a similar support article describing the steps you need to take in order to keep the data. This will work best if the two servers are of the same type (e.g. both running on the same platform → that’s described in the article):
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/

There’s two ways of adding users to your servers:

  • you can setup a “Plex Home” – as the name implies, this is intended for actual members of the same household. It’ll allow for “fast user switching” on your devices between the users of the Plex Home. Long story short… there’s a limit of max. 15 users that can be part of a Plex Home
    https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/features/plex-home/
  • you can share access to your libraries with friends who have their own Plex Accounts (no need for them to have their own servers). The limit for those is significantly higher… something about 80-100 if I remember correctly – however that number applies to the total shares (will be lower if you already have users in a “Plex Home”)

That’s what the forum is for
The support articles are usually a good starting point with lots of information on how to deal with your server, the client apps etc.

Thanks! Lots for me to read over. Once again, thank you very much

I stumbled into another issue. I checked the forum and articles and didn’t really come up with a answer. Users, there are the managed ones and they there is something called “Invite Home user” whats the difference? As well, with the managed users, as I understand it, you need to login as a administrator first then use the switcher. So, if the managed user can switch to the admin account, how exactly does that protect the admin account?

Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks
