Hi guys
Since the “outbreak” issue on the DNS servers, I have had major issues getting my TVs to run with Plex on a LAN server. The server is running, was working fine yesterday on TV2 ( the new LG C1 ). On TV1 and older LG TV I had problems with spinning menus. So I tried to put in a manual IP for the LAN server - and after a couple of minutes the server came online on the screen.
This morning none of the TVs gets any connection to my LAN server. I have cross checked everything, rebooted server etc.
The odd thing is if I use 4G network on my phone - Its working fine and online without any problems. If I use LAN ( via Wifi ) . No connection
If I use my work PC ( windows ) via Chrome on my LAN ( Wifi ) is working fine.
If I try use another browser like Firefox , its offline and with spinning menus.
Do you have any ideas how I can solve this , or where to start looking?
I heard from a buddy of mine that he had a similar issue yesterday on LAN - he couldnt connect. I made a reboot on the server and he is now running again. But its not working for me
I see this when doing sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver.service:
Jul 22 06:12:54 plexmediaserver systemd[1]: Starting Plex Media Server…
Jul 22 06:12:54 plexmediaserver systemd[1]: Started Plex Media Server.
Jul 22 06:13:09 plexmediaserver Plex Media Server[981]: connect: Connection refused
Do you know if you have had issues with OpenDNS? I have an UDM Pro ( Unifi Dreammachine Pro ). I have defined the OpenDNS in there, but never had the issue before.
Can it have something to do with it ( after plex had dns issues ) .
I removed the OpenDNS on my TV ( got it from the UDM Pro ). I added Google DNS and its now running again.
May I ask when this expect to be solved? Seems like Plex.tv has DNS issues … still?
I have another server with a VPN connection ( just to test it out, that DNS is 1.1.1.1 ) . Same issue, after I corrected the VPN to use Google DNS , everthing was working fine again .
I use OpenDNS and have no issues. but some other users reported changing to googles (which worked) then back to openDNS and that started working again.
I think a DNS or something is just caching too aggressively but our ops team is looking into it.
Well - it seems that I still have problems with some DNS. For instance now I cant connect to Plex from my working PC ( was working fine earlier this morning ) .
I got my TVs up and running after changing the DNS settings.
Maybe I should try make a COLD turkey on the entire system later on
Give that client on your work PC a chance to fetch fresh information about your server from plex.tv
for instance by signing it out of your plex.tv account, restarting it, then signing it back in.
