Any way to keep my folder structure?

So i have videos organized into folders on my server, sort of like:

Main Folder
-folder 1
–video
–video
-folder 2
–video
–video

Is there any way to create a library on plex and select the “main folder” like above, as the media folder but then still have the videos organized into their sub folders “folder 1” and “folder 2” when displaying in the plex library, instead of all the videos displaying on the one page, without having to use the TV show episode/season naming system?

In Plex Web you can just chose the Folder view and it will do exactly that.

Yes - if you put those files in an ‘Other Videos’ Library. <— good luck getting folders to work like you think they should
No, - if you try to put non-compliant files into non-compliant structures in a TV Show Library. <— they’ll just be invisible.

Here are the rules for naming and structuring TV Shows:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220687-naming-series-season-based-tv-shows/

FileBot - in my signature - can make that happen in seconds.

In the end - it’s just easier to comply and get all the benefits than fight tooth and nail for non-compliance.

Yes, that’s exactly what i want to use, i remember using it a while ago but now it’s not in the views menu like it used to be. did they remove it?

it’s further to the left…
most left is the filter, then the content type you want to display, then the sorting.
“view by folders” is in the “content type” segment.

consider that Plex will not be able to match your movies if you don’t apply the Plex media preparation / naming conventions! So all you get is a file name, maybe a year but no posters, no description, no other details.

tom80H, A huge thank you for pointing this out. As someone who has almost 15,000 videos, Plex doesn’t know the slightest how to categorize my videos since they are mostly family videos. Unless Plex knows who is in my videos and where and when the video is made, this method is absolutely useless to me and probably for a lot of other people in the same situation.

Again tom80H, THANK YOU!
