I’ve looked through the guides/topics on naming conventions for movies and TV shows and running into a roadblock. I have a training video series that was provided to me in which the videos are all grouped into their own folders by subject. The video file names each begin with a numbering scheme that is repeated in each folder.
Other than viewing the library in a folder view, I cannot seem to come up with a means to display the contents of the folders in a logical order. Seems my only choice is to either view the library as folders or to move/rename the videos (in particular the numbering scheme).
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or faced this before?
Use a TV library and change the agents so Plex won’t try to match against TV shows. Folder A, Folder B, etc. are seasons.
It isn’t perfect. You cannot name a season. They will appear as “Season 1,” “Season 2,” etc., not “Subject A,” Subject B," etc. Since the files are mp4, you can embed the video name as the episode name, and Plex should display it (see Using Embedded Metadata in the support document).
Here’s an example:
Seasons show up as Season 1, Season 2, etc. Plex will pick up episode names when embedded in the files (mp4/m4v only).
