anyone else have to enter in their PIN repeatedly ?

Just recently this happens to me all the time. Its not everyday, and it does not seem to be tied to one particular account. Is there something I can check? Not sure how to troubleshoot this, and unless my kids changed something, I have made no recent changes…

This is getting very frustrating!

I don’t keep getting the request for pin but mine says there is a communications error. Obviously not true since I can access my server from the web client and the xbox can communicate via other programs.

I have the same issue myself where I keep having to supply a pin - it works for a day maybe more but then out of the blue asks for a new pin

Is anyone dealing with this? I’m at the point of canceling my paid plex pass. I got it to support ongoing development and originally you needed it to use the xbox 360 app. It worked better before the update. Please fix this. I have to keep handing out my pin to anyone who uses my xbox in the house

I figured it was the switch to the new Roku client. The other day it prompted again, but it was because of a local network problem with the Roku.

I mainly use the Xbox One for Plex, but switched over to the Xbox 360 for awhile since there are more features…especially the managed user feature. But, as everyone mentioned, it requires a PIN every single time which makes it completely pointless. If I could use the number keypad on my remote to enter a PIN it would be a little better, but I’m forced to move through the numbers with the direction pad. I can’t believe this has been hanging around for months and no one from Plex has responded.

Quick question for those in this thread though…when it did work, could you set it so different xbox users were automatically signed in as different Plex managed users? Basically, 1 xbox account for me, connected to a “parent” plex user. And a different xbox account for the kids, connected to a “kids” plex user.

Ok, here is something I think I finally understand - first my major complaint is about the constant re-entering of the PIN but I think I understand this is due to the Plex Pass Preview only mode that the SmartTv app is using - guessing that once this app goes fully public - this PIN process should go away - and my guess is the secondary problem (settings getting lost) will also go away at that that time as well.

I get that when my account signs out on the xbox. I do get disconnected quite often (server is not responding), and have to kill the PMS server and start it up again.

I see something similar. I have plex (free) installed on 2 xbox 360’s. If I switch xbox accounts, I need to re-enter a pin or password. Is this by design?

I think you’re onto something here anjilslaire - I have the same setup as you. If you pay for plex premium does this problem go away?
