Hey guys, I’m looking at migrating my current Plex setup, which is running the latest Plex server version on Windows 10 onto a new build which would be a VMWare ESXi setup running Plex on Linux Mint or Ubuntu.
The current hardware is an aging HP i7 based workstation.
I would like to know if anyone has a similar setup working successfully with a dedicated GPU for transcoding.
My goal is to futureproof this setup to some degree for things like 4K transcoding of Blu-ray rips.
Hardware I am considering is something like an HP Z820 workstation with one or two Xeon CPUs, I would need to see if it would support use of a current generation GPU.
