I rip my movies in full bluray and my parents got a new home theater setup that supports DTS-MA and all that but they only have 20Mbps internet. So a lot of the videos are being transcoded, anyway to get it to keep audio at full bitrate and only transcode video? They are using openpht on an old nuc of mine. Thanks.
Video is transcoded and audio left alone for the most part when you hit quality caps and passthrough is selected. At least as far as the Pi and C2 versions are concerned. Are you saying this is not the case on the Nuc?
Nope on the nuc build 1.6.2 it transcodes the audio to aac. I am 100% certain it’s due to bandwidth because I have a dts-ma test file that direct plays fine, and if I set it to orignal for speed and just let it buffer a bit I get dts-ma from the file that transcodes to aac when remote is set to 20Mbps and forces the transcode.
Get some test logs together and file an issue on the Github. If the team says it’s intended behavior, you may ask for a feature request suggesting a hard setting for direct playing audio even if the video transcodes. I’m not sure if this is intended now but in previous Rasplex editions, efforts were made to ensure audio preservation. You basically only chose the video quality and the audio quality was in addendum to the quality cap.
