API Rate Limited Exceeded/Cert Errors/Unable to connect to <server> securely after migrating install to a new PC

Server Version#: 1.23.5.4801
Player Version#: Web Player 4.61.2

Hi, I’m fairly new to Plex and have run into a bit of a roadblock that I can’t seem to figure out myself. For context: recently (yesterday) I built a new PC and today I decided to use the instructions here to copy over my old setup (most importantly, the custom metadata that I’ve added in that would be a pain to try to do by hand again). I performed the migration as described but access seems to be restricted to the local network despite the remote access page stating that it’s fully accessible outside of my network.

I’ve triple checked the port forwarding settings and that all seems above board - don’t have a separate router and modem, just a Bell Home Hub 3000 so I don’t think the double NAT stuff applies here. To clarify: locally I can access the server by IP or via the Plex app on the server itself and I can also access it on my laptop/smartphone via plex.tv or the app (as long as I’m on wi-fi, as one might imagine). My remote users are not able to access the server, however, and I’ve tested that myself by trying to access it using my smartphone on data, which is where I get the message “Unable to connect to securely”.

I did read that there were some issues today with plex.tv DNS and I had my fingers crossed that it would sort out my issue, but unfortunately no such luck for me. That being said, it (and a few other similarly titled posts) did make me take a peek at the logs and I noticed that there definitely seem to be certificate errors floating around. I may have made a mess of things during the day trying to debug this (so basically there may be more servers associated with my account than there should be 🤦🏼) - apologies in advance.

Most of the threads that seem to be about a similar error seem to be resolved by deleting/reseting certificates from what I could tell, but I’m not sure if the migration would cause additional issues.

If anyone could help me out it would be a huge relief, I’ve been puzzling over this for like 12 hours  I’ve attached the logs, let me know if you need any more info. Still trying to get the hang of providing the optimal amount of info for these things.

Having a similar issue…

"CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> "

We had a power cut in the early hours of Sunday and the server was off in the morning, so I powered it on only to find that Remote Access no longer works. Played with things for a few hours and eventually saw the DNS issue on the Plex Status page, so left it alone but now that the DNS issue is resolved I’m still stuck with no Remote Access outside of my network.

If I set secure connections to “preferred” the Remote Access says it’s fine, but still won’t connect from external sources. If I set secure connections to “Required” the Remote Access status seems to go green, only for it to revert back to red if I refresh the page.

Only error I can find in the logs is the above certificate error.

I even went as far re-building the server, upgrading it to Windows 10 and re-installing PMS from scratch. Same issue.

Do I need someone at Plex HQ to reset my server certificate?

Please shut down your server and restart it after a few minutes.
I’ve reset the cert for you.

Legend, thank you. All working now!

Fixed it for me too, thanks!!
