Hi!
I am running TrueNAS Scale and can connect through the local ip of my browser to plex.
I have remote access disabled and my server is coupled.
However when I go to app.plex.tv I get “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “server” securely”
I have the setting Secure connections on “Preferred”.
I have tried switching it on required and back, also tried logging out and back in and removing server completely, but I still get this issue.
Also when I move the setting to Required, the app is not able to find the server at all anymore.
I can access the server through http and https (with https I get "your connection to this site is not secure since I have no certificate running).
I am on the same network and subnet.
Plex server: 192.168.2.164:32400
Device: 192.168.2.60
This is the case of all devices within the network with both browser and plex android app (both tv and phone app)
Hopefully someone can help me!
Niek
Ps.
I notice a lot of posts like this but they could not offer me a solution unfortanitly…
I am able to find play my libraries when connecting directly with the ip in the browser so that works
No need. It is done automatically.
The thing is: to be able to actually use it, you need to be able to resolve the FQDN of your server. Which is what is being talked about in the section “Why isn’t it working?” in the above linked article.
Thanks for the help! I tried to set this up on my router but this isn’t possible for my current router unfortunately… So I will be looking for another solution
I am having the same issue, but only when using the web app on an iPad. On my 2 desktop computers I can access PMS using the web app with no issue. All devices on the same LAN. The suggestions listed in that support article won’t work for my router or that I’ve had previously.
To rule out my Wi-Fi I tested from a Windows machine on Wi-Fi and it connected to server fine using web app in browser. ONLY iOS devices on my LAN will not connect to the server thru a browser using the web app. Each has a different iOS version as well so not iOS version issue. Any idea why this problem is affecting only the iOS? And just started recently,.
And just now figured out what is causing this. In the Wi-Fi settings of iOS there’s an option called “Limit IP Address Tracking”. Turning this off fixes the problem, but ideally I’d like to keep this enabled.
