Here is to hoping you get all the resources you need from Plex to get this thing out there soon.

Craig, hoping these logs are useful for the audio being out of sync, if there is anything else i can do please let me know.
Hey all,
Pushed a new build: 8.46 (9706)
This has a few fixes I mentioned earlier this week:
- Fix decoding crash (This may be the crash people have been experiencing itermitentlly)
- Optimize New Video Renderer
- Improve the Audio Engine (not new) to better handle spatial audio on iOS
- Disable Newer Audio Engine for this build. We need to improve performance for this engine if we’re going to use it. This may also help with crashing or issues with performance.
- Fixed video artifacts for some older content like Frasier and Stargate
- Fixed issue where some subtitles were not parsed
- You shouldn’t have to reload the app for some settings to apply
You may notice a “Force DeInterlace” option. I wouldn’t turn that on unless you are experiencing the issue where Live TV isn’t being identified as interlaced.
I’m following up so I can fix that bug specifically. So this is just an extra option to try in that scenario.
Next up I am looking at some more performance and subtitle issues reported here and from the previews.
Also, as usual, I am continuing to look into audio engine improvements and bugs.
Some quick feedback for you @Craig_Holliday
Force Deinterlace now makes my channels deinterlace, and doesn’t seem to effect my other media so far when enabled. Looks as good as ChannelsDVRs deinterlacing when playing sport, which has always been very good.
Upon further testing, deinterlacing seems to push the thermal state to serious-critical with a small amount of stuttering when it changes to critical. Still much better viewing than not having 2x deinterlace though!
Thermal is nominal when force deinterlace is enabled for progressive videos which is good.
The SRT that was converted from dvb_teletext that I provided you now plays correctly.
My mov_text subs are now displaying correctly again.
Also did some quick seeking in a mpegts file and seems to be seeking better than before, though still struggles with anything other than skip forward 10sec.
Will do some other more in depth testing later tonight and report back.
Great update for me so far.
Thanks
Quick Test
PGS Subtitels are flickering wenn they come and go.
Audio latency (my offset setting 100-125) still there - AND Audio Offset doesnt keep its setting. New Movie Audio Offset has to be set again.
Thx
Ekomax
Very quick test this am, but it looks like this build may be ignoring the “Multi-Channel Audio Boot” setting on the AppleTV. On my Apple TV 4K that is running through TV speakers, audio for files with 5.1 EAC3 media is quite low when compared to audio for stereo files, and I have that setting set to “Huge”.
This is with both the new and old audio renderer. I am not seeing this issue on iOS.
SRT subtitles on iOS are not displayed if the video content is zoomed in to fill the screen. Same issue as described here.
TY for testing again!
Glad the deinterlacing is working. Seems like i’ll have to fix the performance of it though.
But we figured out that the live stream is not properly identified as interlaced which is good.
I didn’t think the seeking would be better at all for mpegts but I’m fixing some other seeking issues too so those fixes might also help this.
@Craig_Holliday
Had a chance to test multichannel audio on my surround setup with AppleTV 4K and my Denon, and there is definitely something going on with the audio in this release. Multichannel audio sounds hollow and has low gain, and it feels like all channels are being forced through the front setup. This occurs using either non-new audio engine or the new audio engine and it’s affecting EAC3, DTS/DTS-HD, and TrueHD converting to FLAC.
Comparing it against Infuse on the same system, and everything sounds full and “bright”. Reverting to 8.45 (9649) also seems to resolve this audio issue and all channels sound proper and filled.
That said, at least everything looks to be in sync and I’m not seeing any stutter, even with the “Match FrameRate settings enabled.”
HDR10 video is also pretty blown out when tone mapping to SDR TVs in this release.
I’ll pm you the logs.
I’ll take a look at the subtitles ![]()
I’ll look at the movie audio offset again since it is still being weird
Yes it is ignoring the boost and for some reason the audio is generally low. This was reported internally as well and I’m looking into it.
And got the subtitles issue in my queue still ![]()
Thanks! Logs sent. Let me know if you need anything else.
Every new beta release from this year on tvOS have wrong encoding for subtitles that uses č. ć. ž, đ (eastern Europe characters). Wrong encoding is not fixed in the last version.
Also Live TV (from TV tuner) is always converting instead of playing original video.
Tried the newest 8.46 (9706) build with the experimental player. Subtitles are still screwed up for some content but not others. Some content the subtitles appear fine, some content the text only has a faint black outline with no fill and isn’t positioned correctly.
When the error occurs it’s very easy to just assume no subtitles are showing at all because of how faint they are, especially if the scene is dark or the content is letterboxed.
Downgrading to 8.45 (9684), the one without the experimental player, fixed it.
Unfortunately had two more crashes playing content with 8.46(9706), so not resolved. ![]()
Was it with any specific type of content or after a few playback sessions? Anything like that?
It was after a few playback shows.
h.264, 1080p and 720p in mkv containers
Not sure if it’s been mentioned here yet but I have noticed on the last few builds that the videos play smoothly right up to within the last few minutes of each episode/movie
Doesn’t seem to matter what the quality of the source is, everything from dvd to 4k blu rays has the same behavior. Once the next episode or movie has started, it’s smooth again. Doesn’t seem to be heat related either because even from a cold start, if I skip to the final few minutes itll be dropping frames all over the place. Tested on 2 separate Apple TVs with the same results.
On a positive note deinterlacing is a welcome feature and is working very well for me so far ![]()
Seems like the HDR brightness level isnt accurate and the picture is too bright. I compared it to infuse, the stable plex version and oppo 203. The picture was brighter with the experimental player.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to share my experience with the latest Plex Preview app on the Apple TV 4K (2022) and highlight a couple of issues I’ve encountered:
- Dolby Vision Playback: Unfortunately, Dolby Vision content does not play correctly—it defaults to HDR instead. However, when using Infuse Pro, the same content plays in Dolby Vision without any issues.
- Audio Delay with AirPlay & Sonos: When streaming audio via AirPlay to my Sonos system, I experience noticeable sound delays. Interestingly, this issue does not occur when playing the same content using Infuse or the Apple TV+ app.
I’d really appreciate it if the Plex team could look into these issues, as resolving them would significantly enhance the viewing experience.
Thanks!
