Is this common knowledge/reported elsewhere in this thread? I have only just popped into this thread to better keep track of progress. How do I check the version number in the beta app?
The tvOS app actually started engaging DV on my LG with the Feb release, but there really hasn’t been discussion of it so I don’t know if it’s true DV or their old “Fake DV” that the current release client uses. I will say that my LG is reporting DV on content that has profile 7 as well as 5 & 8, so I’m a bit hesitant to assume it is accurate.
Overall, my main issues with the new experience (other than the same interface as Roku), tend to be tied to Live TV needing to transcode rather than direct play, and the inability to exit an episode or movie until it is fully completed once the Skip Credits button appears. Very rarely do I have issues with UHD media now, and I haven’t the syncing and stuttering issues for months.
There used to be pretty active conversation with a few of the developers in the TestFlight beta and we were getting tvOS updates every other week for a while there (rotating with iOS), but there really hasn’t been word from anyone since the end of last year.
Yah, that’s very frustrating…the other thing I can’t figure out is when the skip credits becomes active vs not. Sometimes it shows up and I can click it, other times it shows up, but it’s not active, so I have to click over left, then right several times to navigate to it so that I can select it. I’ve seen others comments on that, and it seems to have been happening for a while now.
Glad to hear that DV has been implemented in some way. If it started in February then it seems that the updates are being pushed to test flight. Not sure why they would be logged but not pushed. And also glad to know that I’m not alone in not being able to exit an episode/movie once the skip button appears. Honestly its not enough of an issue for me to stop using the beta since everything else works. I could use Infuse obviously but I abhor the UI. As much as people complain about the newer UI of the experience players, I’d rather have it than whatever Infuse goes for.
Manual Skip Credits is PITA at present, if not quick enough the Skip button becomes a chase the tail operation.

- Changing sort on collections could override the browse screen.
- File info was incorrectly available for some media that didn't have files.
- Fixed vertical alignment on My Ratings & Reviews screen.
- Live TV: Channel preview playback could start unmuted.
- Live TV: Fixed back button behaviour on guide.
- Live TV: Fixed delay when selecting a category.
- Live TV: Improved focus navigation through guide.
- Live TV: Sources were not aligned correctly in menu.
- On Season details screen the watch button would get focus before episode tile.
- Related hubs on personal media details screens were only showing 5 items.
- Show details screen would have incorrect focus on episode tiles sometimes.
- Summary shifts down once the rest of data is loaded on a details page.
- XMLTV sources could have broken links in Whats On.
Now, most of the updates align with iOS TestFlight, however some are tvOS-specific.
Little UI things like that bug me!! Like when opening the app, sometimes the default navigation is on the “Home” button as I expect given how the current app works, but other times it starts on the profile icon, so pressing down right when the app opens brings up that menu….minor stuff, but it gets tiring.
Been meaning to write up everything, but need to go through the thread and see what’s already been mentioned/reported…
I wonder at what point will they consider it done. So far all I am seeing (again, I am new to this thread, so I have missed a lot of context up to this point) is related to skip credits and other small UI issues. The Roku app launched with a ton of issues, so maybe they are trying to avoid that, especially if it is true that they lost their tvOS person (which I am not sure is true and not entirely supported by newer updates) and they wouldn’t be able to respond quickly. Anyways, I have hope that it will be released at some point. But then again, I am also someone who thinks Half-Life 3 will be announced this year so maybe I’m just a fool.

MHO, Home should be default with Continue Watching should always be first active Row. If anything else it’s just defeating the purpose of the Home Page logic, which in turn makes it cumbersome and non intuitive.
one of the biggest/latest UI changes was the new VERTICAL menu for libraries. Still not the old way, but much improved over the original implementation.
AND to add, it’s stable enough(WAF was medium) in my eyes that it has replaced the current(OLD) App Store version in my ‘Top Shelf’.. call that what you may, but even the small wins are WINs..
Though Apple TV is my primary steaming device, I also have a Roku TV in my bedroom. The Roku App has not worked well since they upgraded it to the new experience. When I launch the app it takes around 30 seconds to load the home screen. The last update was 3/11 and I can’t find any release notes to indicate what was fixed. My guess is that they are focusing more on the VOD aspects of the app, not the Client/Server functionality.

What kind of Roku? We have a very cheap Roku TV and a Roku Ultra in our house. The TV is terrible. Same experience as you. The Ultra is fine though. Not that its excusable that Plex wont work well on the former, but pretty obvious that its hardware related to an extent
Yes, it’s a Roku TV. I suspected that it’s probably because the Roku TV’s aren’t as powerful as the standalone Roku Streaming boxes. However, it worked fine before they updated the app to the “new experience.”

Yeah the new player UI is a lot easier to use now. No more tiny buttons to try and hit. Almost wondering if they totally replaced the playback engine with something different?
