Still can’t playback live tv in the background and no rw or fw live tv streams from hdhomerun. This is the same playback engine.

Latest beta for Apple TV in now seeing Dolby vision playback? Is this new and real Dolby vision?
define real, there is a dizzying array of profiles and layers.
From memory people said that Plex used to show Dolby vision on your tv but actually just served up the base hdr10 layer and not the actual Dolby vision? Just wondered if it was now proper DV.
I’m hesitant here, as tvOS is triggering DV on my LG even with Profile 7 content. Also, the “Force DoVI Profile 7 Support” button is now on tvOS as well, and yesterday a dev on reddit confirmed that was an error and should only appear to Android users.

Subtitle/Caption bug with LiveTV is also still present. They are appearing even though subtitles are disabled, and user needs to enable them, then turn them off, before they go away. And changing subtitles causes the program to restart playback at the beginning of the file.
One positive thing i will say, is that playing back a dolby vision film which historically fell back to HDR10 and was blown out to the point of it being nearly unwatchable as it was virtually a white screen in places is now fixed with whatever they have done making it play as dolby vision, so im pretty happy with that!
If only they can sort dolby atmos 
After reading the update news for ATV OS 26.4 from MacRumors, I found this setting for Dolby Atmos / Continuous Audio Connection
Apple says tvOS 26.4 fixes an issue with audio playback on Apple TV 4K that can occur when sound transitions between programs with different formats.
Specifically, there is a new “Continuous Audio Connection” setting in the Settings app, under Video and Audio → Audio Format → HDMI Output.
“Apple TV uses a Dolby MAT connection for glitch-free playback across formats,” reads Apple’s description of the setting. Older receivers may indicate an Atmos connection, but original mixes will not be modified.

My Atmos blue light now turns on using the non-beta app. After all these years.
Edit: Setting appears to make everything show up as atmos for me, so this is misleading.
That is expected with the Continuous Audio Connection enabled… it forces the Apple TV to output all audio as Dolby MAT audio, and not all receivers can determine the difference between a generic Dolby MAT signal and Dolby Atmos.
This setting does not force true Atmos, and may actually cause issues with some receivers. It’s really only recommended for Sonos setups that had issues when audio formats changed.
All Apple needed to do is allow audio passthrough and problem solved. Apple being Apple, I guess.
Dolby MAT resolved audio distortion issues for me with LG internal speakers on my OLED G4
But then they’d have no excuse to sell their wildly overpriced wireless speakers 
I don’t know if Audio Passthrough wouldn fix this specific issue. The problem they’re trying to solve is when receivers and speakers have audible audio glitches when audio format changes. With Audio Passthrough, the format would continue to change every time the media format was different.
I have 0 issues on the Nvidia Shield.
Then that would be the case on every other device. I haven’t ever experienced the issue on my Roku Ultra, which does allow passthrough.
The question would be then related to HDMI via Sound Bar, AV Receiver or Tv speakers. This issue of changing formats can pop up.
The setting says it can do this for buggy receivers/soundbars, in clear english, on the device in the menu.
Interesting that you would say that. The setting was on my default without any setting changed. Buggy receiver? lmao
