Apple Remote up/down to not function

OK, on one of my Macs I have a Harmony remote that works great. On another I’m using an original white Apple Remote. The Left, Right, Menu and Center buttons all work just fine, but the Up and Down buttons do not. How do I get these buttons to work so I can scroll up or down a Plex list?

Hi
I imagine the Plex experts will need some more information:

  • device on which it does not work
  • version of the Operating System
  • version of the Plex player
  • Plex Media Player or Plex Home Theater?
  • Plex server version

for exemple for me :
i have a same problem with this config :

i have the problem since Mac OS X Sierra -> Mac OS X **High **Sierra
but some others users experience problems with apple tv : http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1562790

Yes, I see now that it is an issue with High Sierra. I’ll see if Candelair will fix it.

Thanks.

OK, I installed Candelair/Remote Buddy and I now have the up and down keys mapped as before High Sierra. However, now when I press the Menu button on the Apple Remote, Remote Buddy comes to the screen instead of launching Plex. I do not see an option in Remote Buddy to launch a specific application. Can I assign the Menu button to launch Plex using Remote Buddy?

Tonywas,
have you pay for Candelair/Remote Buddy ?

Yes you can tonywas.
Go to mapping in preferences. Select the menu-button on the apple remote, and change it from ‘Remote buddy menu’ (or what the default value is) to Behaviours -> ‘Activate Plex Media Player behaviour’.

Plex should now start whenever you press menu

same here.
Since OSX High Sierra the up and down buttons are no longer working.
A fix would be appreciated!

Yes, I bought Remote Buddy and as Glunten stated the keys can be mapped. I now have the center button on the Apple remote launch Plex, then once inside Plex the remote works just as it did before Apple fsk’ed it up in High Sierra.
