Apple TV 3 certificate won't install

Hi. I did the installation of plex on my atv3 and everything was working FINE but I needed to do a factory reset on the atv3 and since I cannot install certificate anymore on the atv3. What happens is when u go to add profile and enter https://trailers. apple.com/trailers.cer it takes very long to add profile and then nothing happens there is an error message that appears. What I do? My IP adress is correct and I have plex running on the pc. Should start over the installation of plex on my pc?

You mention http**s**, did you try http? The wiki seems to mention http rather than https, so it's worth a shot.

Another possibility, try load the cert(s) using a micro-usb cable.

plex as in Plex Media Server? Or PlexConnect? Or both?

Do you have PlexConnect running and your ATV’s DNS pointed to the IP of the machine running PlexConnect when you try and add the profile?

You can also try replacing the trailers.apple.com with the IP of your PlexConnect machine.

I would delete your old certs on your pc and generate some new certs using this guide then load the trailer.cer using this next guide (requires no appletv USB method to install certs all done over your local network so you don’t need to disconnect the atv then reconnect it to your av equipment or display)

What you need to first do is find out if the DNS server on your Plex box is working...  With your dns set to the plex box IP are the regular icons launching properly?  i.e. music/itunes radio and the others?

I also find it easier to use your plexconnect host ip for some reason via network method like @f00b4r said. For example (no http prefix):


192.168.100.1/trailers.cer
