2:15 - 2:50 into the film, it’s like everyone else showed.
Am I correct that we think MPV can’t map 10bit textures because Apple stopped supporting OpenGL? So our path forward is blocked until they figure out how to use Metal and because other players that work don’t use MPV?
I’m also having the same issue and it has been driving me insane until I found this thread. I’m using the latest appleTV 4K with a UST 4K projector. The banding has been awful in plex content but is perfect on every other app. Will try the old player / infuse workaround but would be nice to hear from the devs on this.
Nope, no banding on my MacBook Pro with the M1 chip… But I think the Plex App on Mac is just the web version of Plex as an app so you can’t really compare it. I assume if the Apple TV app would run on a MacBook you would get the same banding issues.
Funny, I also first noticed this banding issue while watching that exact same scene. It’s bothered me ever since so now I have to use the crappy Android TV App version of Plex on my A90J to avoid it.
Can any Plex employees confirm if Plex is/isn’t working on a fix for this? I would have thought this would be a high priority given that the AppleTV is considered to deliver a premium Plex experience.
Is the issue too difficult to fix? Should I throw my AppleTV 4K 2021 in the bin and just go back to using WebOS?
I’ve been having this issue as well and wanted to chime in. Any kind of 4k is quite unwatchable now I’ve tried on multiple tv shows and movies and anywhere there is a light colour eg cloud and skies it has terrible banding and blocking. Most recently on episode 3 of the new GoT show it’s everywhere.
Also I’m not using an oled, using a formovie theatre projector with Apple TV 4K 2022 and nothing in between. Directly connected.
Also been having issues with this for over a year now. Really tired of having to use Infuse for any 4k HDR content especially since we have to pay for infuse.
Can someone from Plex provide an update on this issue?
