I’ve yet to see any comment from a Plex representative or dev. To be honest, I have no idea of how to even file a bug report such as this. Does that even exist?
This banding happens in SDR content as well in Plex on the new Apple 4k 2021.
Hi @ChuckPa, if you may kindly confirm with the Team if this is being tackled together with general DV issue? I assumed it was.

I bought the new ATV hoping to watch HDR content using the plex watch together function a while ago. I wasn’t expecting this to take so long. (I have an HTPC that can play HDR content flawlessly and I could use pc plex for SDR watch together.)
This issue basically rendered it useless smh.

This sucks the issue is still happening. I shouldve returned my apple tv 4k but now its too late.

No, Plex should properly support the hardware. Infuse has no problems with it, so this is on Plex.
I don’t want or need all of their streaming crap they’re trying to ram in my client UI, I just want them to play files from my library correctly.
Infuse picks up the Atmos audio and plays the video correctly. I will give them my money and hope that Plex doesn’t screw up the server like they have the player in the last few years.

Like I mentioned in the Dolby Vision thread, I have also signed up for a 1 year pass of Infuse until Plex get their ■■■■ together. Basically any form of 4K watching on the new ATV is a no go right now which is mind boggling to me.

You are absolutely correct but knowing how slow the developers are at plex. I wouldnt hold my breath for a quick fix. I shoulda bought a nvidia shield.

Apple TV 4K (2021), running Plex 7.22 and I’m experiencing exactly the same issue as described above - TERRIBLE banding issues, specifically when playing Blade Runner 2049 (4K HDR). Very disappointing to say the least. We know the hardware is capable as there is no banding exhibited when playing the same file via Infuse 7.
Just thought I’d add my experience to the ever growing list. Appreciate the effort the Plex team has put into the new modern UI, but I for one would really appreciate some time directed to resolving this issue.

I also have exactly the same problem, it’s unfortunate but I had to go back to using Infuse and I’m so sorry, I love the new design of Plex.

same issue here, pretty much all 4k content is unwatchable in plex, which defeats the whole purpose of having a 4k Apple TV.
