Apple TV 4k 3rd Gen drops frames during direct play on some files

I noticed I am getting a lot of dropped frames when direct playing some content. It results in the video playback completely stuttering. The audio is fine. I can’t definitively point to a common thread among the impacted content except that it could be related to DV content with HDR fallback but I have a lot of that content that direct plays fine. Transcoding fixes the problem.

Same here. This seems to be something new. I was not having these issues before.

I purchased an Infuse Pro license to use Plex on my ATV4k. The entire app is a scam against paying customers. The app hasn’t been updated in ages, and the “new” player only plays media jerkily, with the frame drops you described. And nobody cares about.

I hope plex will be sold one day for an symbolic dollar to someone who has real skills to bring plex back to what it was…

Well it has been updated, New Experience app works for me. Version 23 is the current app available via testFlight

The beta test for the new experience app is closed for new members on testflight and the last stable plex app on ATV4k is the one who has frame drops playing videos

I’m having the same issue, doesn’t matter if it’s HDR content or not, dropped frames around once every 10 seconds. Other apps on the same Apple TV work completely fine. The one primary thing I want Plex to do is play back media reliably, and it’s very disappointing that it seemingly can’t do that.
