Apple TV 4K goes to sleep when music ends

ISSUE: When playing music on Plex, Apple TV 4K immediately goes to sleep when the queue ends after playback has continued for more than what’s set as the sleep timer of tvOS (General → Sleep After). For example if I play a six minute song and there’s nothing after that in the queue and sleep timer of tvOS is set to 5 minutes, the ATV will sleep right after the song ends. If the Sleep After is set to 15 minutes, ATV won’t sleep after a six minute song, but after a 15 minute queue/album it will. The most annoying thing is that randomly the ATV goes to sleep seconds BEFORE the queue is finished when the outro of the last song is still playing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • Set the Sleep After to 5 minutes for easier, less time consuming bug reproduction
  • Play a song that’s longer than 5 minutes
  • Don’t operate Apple TV when the song is playing
  • Apple TV goes to sleep when the song ends

Has anyone been able to reproduce this and is there a fix coming?

Yes, I’ver experienced the same thing. Very frustrating.

An additional observation: if you are playing an artist on shuffle the Apple TV 4K will go to sleep per the sleep setting.
