The Apple TV 4K plex app cannot load a guide or play any live tv streams anymore. It instantly crashes. Even just skimming by the Live TV & DVR section where the guide begins to try and load causes the entire application to crash.
I’ve already tried to reboot the Apple TV and re-install the app. Both of those have failed.
Note this worked yesterday before the app was upgraded. It doesn’t seem to be a server issue as the logs state:
Aug 21, 2021 13:02:01.354 [0x7fbe6d8d7b38] DEBUG - Streaming Resource: Terminated session 0x7fbe6e8f0ff8:be85a064-c7b0-4237-bb05-00a871964c6b with reason Client stopped playback.
I also want to note that Live TV & DVR works fine over Plex Web and Plex for IOS, so its isolated to the Apple TV (4K?) client.
This isn’t a global issue. I’m running the same client app on my Apple TV and can view and use the Guide tab. I too am running the app on a 4K Apple TV.
Same problem and symptoms here. Updated the app on my Apple TV 4K and live tv instantly crashes the Plex app when loading the guide or trying to view a channel.
It looks like the latest public update 1.24.3.5033-757abe6b4 fixes the crashing issue.
However, now majority of the channels have overlay issues where multiple layers of text are covering all the guide channel descriptions, making them unreadable. There is no issue via Plex Web or the iOS app, strictly the Apple TV app.
I’m seriously considering emby at this point. Give me back the old Plex for Apple TV app that actually works.
Same here! I haven’t used my live tv in a while and opened today to have it crash instantly. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling and same problem. How do we get Plex to acknowledge the issue?
