Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun Quatro/Threadfin
Guide/Lineup name: xml
Using XMLTV?: yes
Channel number/Name: all
Firstly the guide takes an absolute age to load in the new app! it takes a minute or two to display anything at all when live tv is selected.
when you click on a channel to start streaming it shows the spinning circle and then get an error message about the url it’s trying to access. does this on every channel i have tried. Playback works on web browser on my laptop so it’s not live tv function of PMS that is the issue, it’s definitely a client issue. No issues before the new plex client was forced on unsuspecting ios/android users.
I’m having the same experience, on both Android and iOS clients with the new mobile app update. Doesn’t matter which version of tablet/phone, Live TV being broken is consistent among them all.
Live TV also broken on my app, worked flawlessly before the new app rollout. Come on Plex, this is garbage! I paid for Plex Pass I expect my ■■■■ to work, give us the option to use the legacy app.
I’m having the same issues as well on all iPhone, iPad & Android devices. I have my favorites aggregated with an OTA tuner and XML TV. The OTA only gets a few channels and the XML tuner is completely broken as I’m experiencing everything the same issues with XML tuner as everyone else. I almost believe that breaking the XML is intentional as no response as of yet from the dev team and no option to roll back to previous version of the app. A little bit of transparency from the developers would go along way in determining how we should proceed with the Plex app. As of right now, it’s only providing a minimal feature and functionality for Plex Pass members. Keep in mind that the Live TV & DVR functionality is a paid premium feature of Plex and without that feature there really isn’t much value for Plex Pass, especially since you can’t use the DVR on the Plex channels. And being able to watch your own media remotely can be done with a reverse proxy or an open source app like Threadfin. Again, a little transparency on what the developers are doing about this situation would help Plex Pass members like myself determine next steps. With that being said, I’m holding out hope that these issues will get resolved or they provide some simple workaround solution until the app is fixed. As of right now, I have to uninstall the app and play everything from a browser since the old functionality is still there…for now.
Have same issues with live tv loading slow and screen freezing. Uninstalled Android apps on phone and tablet and
reinstalled old version from ApkMirror and disabled auto updates. If they eventually fix and return all the live TV features they took away will try again but
If same issues occur I will just go back to old version until it no longer works.Just hoping don’t have same issues with TV apps when they update, might have to check out Emby if so.
Confirm that Live TV was broken on my mobile app. That first screen (Guide) would never load…just spun for 10-30 seconds and crash the app
UNTIL tonight! It’s working again! Last check was 23-ish hours ago and the grid loads (260ish channels) and channels play (yay!). Only issue experienced after 10 minutes of fiddling around, checking different channels, etc are 1) 1 tested channel resulted in plex throwing a codec error, the other is the EPG’s all show “Unknown airing”. Haven’t set up auto jobs for the EPGs, slacked and EPG’s went poof. Just forced an update on the server, thinking it’ll fix that.
Psyched it’s working again!
UPDATE: After working for a day, Live TV is definitely broken or otherwise not working again. Don’t often use the phone app for tv so was surprised when I tried it a few days later only to get the “Uh Oh…Something’s Not Right” error. Have tried roughly every couple days, no go. Is the Plex team doing anything on this issue?
Live TV seems even more broken on iOS than Android, both are bad though. In iOS I am having issues if a Plex is already tuning a channel for another user, that the use on iOS can’t select join in progress or watch live, it just defaults to live. On Android mobile it just goes to live and also doesn’t let you select anything.
How can we revert to the old mobile app? iOS live TV doesn’t work anymore. Favorite channels say no longer available, Guide shows blank. Plex macOS and plex HTPC work fine.
Live TV has been largely broken since the initial preview (months ago) and it was no different when they forced this mess on everyone. I’ve checked every update since but it’s just as broken. It’ll spin for a while on the guide for me then crash.
I really wouldn’t hold out hope on this being fixed any time soon though. I don’t think any Plex employees have even acknowledged the issue but it might be hard to find the time to bug fix between all the positive play store reviews they have to post for the new app.
Same problems here with the new iOS client. Everything used to work great before that major client update. In addition, my program guide for live tv ends after 4:30pm same day and playing a show while it is recording has issues with forwarding, rewinding, and viewing it live.
What a mess. Why did Plex do that?
Spent hours to figure out why Live TV on some devices kept crashing lately, only to find out that it is down to the oh so great new experience mobile app.
Right after choosing the Server when it loads the EPG data they crash with an “oops message”.
For me the new experience is not so great at all. Feels also way slower and more complicated to use at least on my devices (all Android).
Back on older version now after I figured out how to install apkm (APK bundle) files.
