Ah, yeah. The short loss of picture while the TV changes refresh rate. I’d rather have the judder-free playback, but I’ve noticed I sometimes miss a couple seconds of the program on my Shield if the show immediately starts (no black lead-in on the video) and the refresh rate is changing. There’s an option in Jellyfin’s player to delay the start of video playback to avoid this.
Too bad you can’t just set the interface operate at 24 fps too, so it doesn’t need to go back and forth.
That setting also wrecks the YouTube app. Every video triggers the black screen pause effect but keeps playing anyway.
So now I need to turn on the setting when watching a 4K object in PLEX and then remember to turn it back off when done or deal with the black flash pause thing.
I’m like… can the plex app just do the 4K job right please? It’s been so long now…
They are going through an entire codebase change to resolve. The new app has no signs of stutter anymore. It’s left testflight on ios/iphone/ipad.
It’ll follow soon™ for tvos
Adding another confirmation on the “Use Old Audio” to ON for my ATV 4K and audio issues. This setting HAS TO BE ON if you use multiple audio out (ie have my soundbar play audio and homepod mini at same time from plex).
I have been able to keep my video player to the new one w/o issues. the audio player was the culprit of my stuttering, out of sync audio.
Plex, why is the Roku Plex app better than the AppleTV one?? i love my appletv but man.. i hate the plex client for it. its just crap for functionality. also chapters do not match up w/playback when you are watching. so say there is a chapter marker at 2 hours, i am watching at 2 hours 4 mins in movie and go to chapters and it starts me at chapter 1? wtf??
ATV plex client needs so much more work still. can i revert back to the prev one?
