I have been plagued for ages with stuttering playback during certain movies. It’s infrequent, yet if it happens once every 20 movies, it’s unbearable. I can’t really pin it down. It might happen during a huge Blu-ray rip or a 4K movie, but it might also happen during a 1080p movie that’s like 8gb
But tonight, when it was happening, when I my movie video suddenly slowed to a crawl, just a few frames, moving along every few seconds, I did some good troubleshooting.
I played directly from the Windows Plex App to my television, instead of using my AppleTV. It played fine, no problems at all.
So the question now is, which is it?
Is it the AppleTV?
Is it something to do with my network?
Is it the Plex Media Server transcoding badly or otherwise acting up?
Same issue here, stuttering video on Apple TV 4K usually with HDR content. Seems to also be spreading for more stuff I watch. Originally posted a topic about it months ago and Plex hasn’t done anything about it.
I’ve started using my Nvidia Shield almost exclusively for Plex. Seems Plex doesn’t care much about having a good experience on Apple TV
Hi, I think I’ve been having the same manifest itself as lip sync issues. Have you tried selecting the “old player” from Plex settings. It seemed to improve my issue.
Yeah I guess I have to either hope to get some help from the pros here or maybe I’ll get some help on the Apple TV Reddit.
I only recently found out there’s apparently a 64 bit version of Plex media server. I’ve been using it for so long I had the 32 bit version. So I installed that today. I wonder if that will make any difference
I am still experiencing this issue. I read the info on every update, and it sometimes refers to MacOS, but it never references tvOS. Will they ever address this?
