Apple TV can’t play tv shows

This started yesterday on both of my Apple TV’s. I can’t play my tv shows. Movies are still working. I have a windows server and a freenas server and it effects both. The shows play fine on a pc and my iPhone.

Error couldn’t create the playback session for this item
And some show unavailable and get this error couldn’t retrieve the play queue for this item

I thought the Apple update fixed this problem but it didn’t.

Does this only happen on your Apple TV or are you also unable to play tv shows on other platforms (e.g. using Plex Web)?

I have the same issue. a movie won’t play on my iphone or apple tv, but it plays fine on my web browser. File plays fine with VLC. It’s an H264 MPEG. Nothing special. Other movies play fine on all platforms.

Deleted and reinstalled the app and magically everything works again. good times
