“Couldn’t retrieve the play queue for this item. Please try again” error on Apple TV 4K

I’ve been receiving this error for probably the last 18 months or so. I had actually given up on Plex because of this (and a number of other playback issues), but seeing as there’s a lot of content there that I want to watch, I thought I’d see if there were any feasible workarounds etc for this issue.

I only get this error when trying to access any content within my “TV Shows” folder (all other folders, “Movies”, “Kids Movies” etc work fine) and when using my Apple TV 4K. Last night I was able to watch 3 episodes of a tv show via the Samsung TV app, but that then stopped working this morning with a generic “playback issue” error. I’m not sure if I can play them on any of my iOS devices as the app just gets stuck in a “Loading” loop. I can play the content via the Plex interface on my iMac (also where the server is installed and running from).

But as 99% of content I watch is consumed via the Apple TV, this is where I actually need/want it working.

I’ve seen a few threads about this issue and have tried the suggested solutions - allowing unsecured connections, analysing the media content, optimising the media content, but nothing has helped so far. Any further suggestions or info on this issue would be hugely appreciated!

I’m having this issue too with my home videos. It happens on the iOS apps but not through iOS within a web browser. Movies seem to work fine.
