Apple tv can't see server

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1944
Player Version#: latest version from the app store

I have a plex server setup at my parents house trying to stream to an apple tv. The apple TV sees plex via DNLA but won’t see the server through the plex client. The server and apple tv are on the same network.
