I need your help in finding out a solution to my problem. I configured my Apple TV to play Plex through Trailers by amending some certificates and amending some files which also required my adding my static ip in one of the file to be uploaded on Apple TV for the Plex Server.
The issue here is that I moved to a new location and I had to install new routers so opted to go for Apple Airport Extreme (older one were Linksys WRT320N). With the change of routers, all IP addresses are now starting with 10.X.X.X. whereas the older ones were starting with 192.X.X.X. My static IP Address for Plex Server was 192.1.1.5XX which was added to the file which then was uploaded on Apple TV. So in order to fix this issue I can only think of two options i.e.
Find the location of the file and update the current IP static address of the Plex Server in the apple file.
Add the old IP static address 192.1.1.5XX in the Apple Airport Extreme.
First of all I would appreciate if you kindly advise on any other available option to fix this issue. Moreover, how should I do one of the following to resolve the issue in hand.
The file uploaded to the ATV is just the certificate and does not include the IP address.
The IP address is added manually into the ATV's DNS setting and this can be changed via the ATV when connected to your tv.
Just set your new static up address in your plex connect server and use that IP address in the ATV DNS.
Hello Drewbie
Thanks for your reply. I tried it but it does not work.
I do remember putting the ip address in some file and that's how it started working.
I do not remember the source of the information form where I got the information on how to configure the Apple TV 3 - Is it possible for you to provide me the details so I can redo it. Moreover, do I need to restore it to factory / default settings before modifying the Apple TV.
In the PlexConnect folder there is also a file called settings.cfg, open it in TextEdit or notepad and post the contents here. We will check if anything needs changing.
BTW, it used to be real simple to change the dhcp server settings on Airport Extreme from 10.10.x.x to 192.168.x.x. Unfortunately I haven't used Apple routers for a while so I can't say if the setting is still there or where actually it was. But there used to be a drop-down from which you selected what do you want the internal addresses to start with and after reboot voila, it worked.

Thanks f00b4r for your response. However considering my skill set, I would also appreciate if your can advise me on how to reach to the file "settings.cfg"
It should be in your PlexConnect folder (the one you downloaded); it gets generated on the first clean shutdown of PlexConnect.
Right click it and select open with text edit or notepad (depending on your OS).
Sorry f00b4r - I installed it on my Apple TV about three months back and since then I changed my macbook as the earlier was broken. Therefore I have nothing on me. Just to brief you my setup
Synology NAS running Plex Server
Apple TV (was connected to Synology)
Please advise what I need to do get back in high life.
It depends where you installed the PlexConnect folder. If you used the SPK, there is a thread devoted to supporting. The creator of the SPK, bwynants, is active in the thread and has been really helpful with a couple of aspects of the main code as well, one of the Synology users or him should be able to provide you the info.
