Since upgrading my fourth gen AppleTV running tvOS 13.4 to the latest Plex TestFlight beta, Hevc 1080p Content stutters like it’s dropping frames. Content is in mp4 wrapper and has aac stereo audio. Using the “old” player the content plays back fine.
My second device, an AppleTV 4K, does not suffer from the same issue and plays fine with the enhanced player.
I am having same issue with 1080p playback on 4 gen ATV HEVC video 5.1 AAC audio. Audio playback is unaffected, but video looks like FR decreases to half of expected, but only lasts for a few seconds then video resumes to normal. But after abrupt scene change same thing occurs with stuttering video.
When I switch back to old player HEVC playback is direct play, but 5.1 AAC audio playback goes from direct play to transcode to AC3. But no video stutter with transcode audio.
I have deleted plex app and reinstalled with no effect.
I reset ATV, reinstalled TVOS 13.4, and reinstalled all apps with no effect.
Thanks, I’m actually seeing this issue with H264 content as well with the enhanced player now, so that makes sense. I’ll migrate content over to that thread.
So far you’re the only person reporting this issue with the 4K model. Are you seeing dropped frames / slow motion kind of effect or something else? “Motion artifacts” aren’t typically the same as dropped frames.
