AppleTV 4K: extremely large subtitles

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309-f5213a238 (Synology NAS DS218+, DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4)
Player Version#: AppleTV 4K (Latest tvOS, Latest Plex App)

Description: Sometimes extremely large subtitles are show, they fill out the entire screen. All my media files are mp4, with 2 embeded Tx3g subtitle tracks in them (Dutch and French).
Font size is set to minimum in settings.

This seems like a bug to me, or is there anything else I can do?

After some more investigation, it happens with subtitles that are enclosed in <i>...</i> tags.

The subtitles I put into the mp4 files are coming from srt files. I use “subler” to do that; when they are imported into the mp4 file, subler identifies them as tx3g tracks. When I export the subtitles from the mp4 file back into an srt format, it shows the subtitles are still using italic tags without any font size being in there. I don’t see any font size settings in them. Also on the plex client on apple tv font size is set at smallest size. I still think it’s a bug in the player, it should use the same font size for all subtitles if no size is specified. Now it tries to make them as big as possible.

I agree, but not just some. All subtitles in Plex on Apple TV are large. And there is no setting for it in Plex. I want them smaller and lower, almost gracing the bottom so they stay in the black area or cover as little as possible for tv-series in 16:9.
