AppleTV return to live TV from the guide

Server Version#: 1.19
Player Version#: AppleTV Latest
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomerun
Guide/Lineup name:
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: All

This might just be a UI usability thing, but I can’t for the life of me find out how to return to full screen live TV after bringing up the guide.

TV streaming is working beautifully, but sometimes while watching I want to check the guide to see what’s coming up/ on other channels etc. When I press menu I get the guide and the small box for the currently playing live TV but I can’t figure out how to seamlessly resume on the original channel.

The menu button goes further back in the menus, play pause asks you if you want to watch live or from the start. watch live is almost correct, but what if I’ve paused for 5 minutes while getting a coffee or something, I lose the 5 minute buffer.

Regards

Apparently you have to select the channel you were on from the guide. Not great and you obviously need to remember what channel you are on.

Thank you, I’ll give it a go now.

It does indeed work, thank you.

Guess it’s a downside of having so few buttons on the Siri remote.

We picked up an Apple TV to be our main streamer in the living room and I’m starting to realize I took the Roku client for granted!

It would at least be helpful if they could mark the channel currently playing in the guide so you can quickly identify it.

Well, I’ve figured out a way to avoid this issue.

While watching live TV, don’t access the guide by hitting Menu, access it by swiping down and selecting the guide there. You can browse the guide and then just hit Menu to get back to the live stream.
