Toronto, if you want to still keep your jailbreak options open save your SSH blobs with TinyUmbrella and then upgrade to 5.3.
5.3 will not break Plexconnect, it will probably help it.
Phil, update to yesterday’s Plexconnect build if you haven’t already, make sure you are using the latest public build of PMS (9.8.5) and maybe, for good measure, deep scan, and re-analyze your media libraries in PMS.
Just to make sure, I understand correctly: you are saying here, aTV/iOS 5.1 is NOT compatible with the PrePlayScreen?
Well, upgrading from 5.1.1 to 5.3 solved the problem in this instance. We would need more examples to generalize further I think.

This should be added to the install instructions. I spent the entire day yesterday re-installing everything 5 times when it would have been right the first time if I had known that the workaround for the AppleTV needed the latest firmware to work.
This was not a known issue. It just seems to be emerging now.
The only thing I should of save my ssh blobs before upgrading to 5.3. If they ever come out with a jailbrake for atv3, I will be stuck. We only need apple to let us install plex apps like they did for the ipad.
A jailbreak pre-iOS 7 (5.4 on ATV) is highly unlikely I think.
