  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file (in order to get the necessary information on a particular media file go into the Plex web interface, select the video file, when it brings up the page for the media file click on the "i" information button on the left hand side, it will then bring up a "media info" box, click on the "View XML" button, it will then open a browser window with the relevant information, copy this tohttp://www.pastebin.com and use the pastebin link to post the details; posting the information directly in the forum may mess up the formatting and generally takes up a lot of space):

  • detailed description of the issue HI I’m new to plex, just been trying to set it up with apple tv 3. i feel like i have done all steps correctly but when i click on trailers it just says “accessing trailer” for ages and finally comes up with “trailers is unavailable, try again later."

  • Ensure you post your 'PlexConnect.log' file to pastebin and post the link ('PlexConnect.log' is located in your PlexConnect folder). If possible, follow these steps to create a "more detailed fresh" one:

    • shutdown PlexConnect
    • in 'Settings.cfg', set loglevel to "High"
    • delete the existing log file
    • restart PlexConnect
    • repeat the issue
    • immediately close PlexConnect and post the log.
    • in 'Settings.cfg', set the loglevel back to “Normal”

you configured .200 in the ATV, but have it running on .20.  Is that a typo?

no that is how i put it in, i assumed that on the atv i would just put an extra  "0" because there didn't seem to be a way to just have it .20

Have a made a simple error here?

My apple tv reads. 192.168.000.200

My apple tv reads. 192.168.000.200

then that is your issue, it should read .020

thanks for such prompt responses bob snot, i thought that may have fixed it since i saw some lines of code change on the terminal screen, but now when i go into trailers, straight away it just comes up with "trailers in unavailable. try again later." please see below for my terminal screen. when i clicked the trailers on apple i noticed "intercept request" etc. come up. Any ideas? Once again thanks for your time

attach your Settings.cfg file.

hi can i ask i probably stupid question. How do i attach that file? i just died and it says I'm not permitted to attach that kind of file?

tried**^

>> tried**^

Hey... there is an "Edit" link in each post. :-)

>> attach...

Yep, Plex forum prevents a couple of file types from being attached. The settings.cfg file is easily copied into the post, the log file (as in physical file on your hard drive, not the just the terminal output) better attached, or provided using paste bin or similar.

>> certs

You shouldn't create a new Cert each time before you start PlexConnect and think your aTV would be able to get in contact... aTV needs to have the correct key - and needs a new one if you rebuild the lock.

From your aTV, remove all installed trailer certs, then install the last one generated - easiest to do following the link provided.

And then I have no idea what "unable to write 'random state'" is supposed to mean...

hi, i fixed it! I deleted profiles on both devices, regenerated and then installed the certificates. Then went to add profiles to the apple tv and realised i had put in my ip address( as  "http://trailers.apple.com/trailers.cer" didn't seem to work unless i put my ip address in also) but i had typed in .20 not .02  ..   now it works perfectly. it seems that that .02 is what was the problem all along and probably when it wasn't working i tried to redo steps etc not realising i probably mucked the certificates up.  Thankyou for all your help, greatly appreciated. can i ask one more question, if i run the script run pled connect as launch demon, does that mean that i will not have to start it manually each time i turn on the computer? is there  any problem in doing this even if i may not be using pled connect at that time? excuse my ignorance lol

thanks again, I'm so rapt now!

I can't get it to work.

I installed everything, software, certificates. The log shows the interception, though ATV3 still says: Not available, try again later (very quick actually, almost instant...)
