Now I'm Getting "Trailers Unavailable" grrrrrr

I updated to Mavericks last week and I think that was about the time I started getting the Trailers Unavailable" error on both my ATV3s.

  • Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software):

ATV3 5.3(6105)

  • The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS):

10.0.1.105

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on:

2008 Mac Pro OS X MAVERICKS 10.9

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on:

10.0.1.105

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:

2008 Mac Pro OS X MAVERICKS 10.9

  • The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (do not put 'latest'):

Version 0.9.8.10.215-020456b

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:

10.0.1.105

  • The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any testing branch e.g. the Elan/PlexInc one.

All other network apps (Netflix, HBO Go) seem to be working ok.

I've looked at some other forums regarding this but can't seem to figure it out.  I apologize if it's something simple

Oh and here's my settings.cfg

did you put the new certs on the atv's as well (if you recreated them) ?

No DNS request in your logs.

Try to flush DNS caches - in aTV (pull the cord...) and router.

did you put the new certs on the atv's as well (if you recreated them) ?

I recreated them with my current plexconnect version and put them in the certifications folder as usual but I couldn't get my iPhone Configuration Utility to recognize either of my ATVs to put them on.  So the certs on the ATVs are a couple months old.

No DNS request in your logs.

Try to flush DNS caches - in aTV (pull the cord...) and router.

I pulled the cord on the ATVs and my Airport Extreme Base Station to flush the DNS but that unfortunately didn't do anything.  I still get the "Trailers Unavailable" error

openssl generates keypairs which belong together.

if you have recreated them you have to get them installed on the atv (old one will not work).

...and you are sure you modified the DNS server address in your aTV?

Try using the network method.

...it's not the certs, as long as you don't get at least one DNS Request.

same problem... but I have updated the cert on the apple tv

It's not the same problem. Well, maybe it is. But the log is definitively different.

Now you got the correct DNS request...

Next thing we are looking for is an https request to "application.js". Is your aTV able to access https://trailers.apple.com - caught by PlexConnect? Try from another computer in your network... browse to trailers.apple.com:80 as well as :443. What are the answers?

hy,

I'm having the same issue, I'm getting an DNS request but that all. When I tried to access https://trailers.apple.com from my notebook with the DNS set to my Plexconnect IP I get an 403 Error. What should I expect if Plexconnect is working properly?

403 "Not Serving Client" sounds about right.

trailers.apple.com:80

I got the trailer page

trailers.apple.com:443

The fastest solution opposed to troubleshooting is use the plexify app, It will generate everthing for you brand new, even the certs and walk you thru the entire installation automagically. If its still not working maybe you have a firewall or webserver or something else weird blocking ports. I would recommend deleting all the profiles from the atv and using the plexify generated cert on the atv. Restart router, mac, atv everything. Post results. You can use my signature or ibaa plexconnect wiki.
