Ive read every post here. I cant find anyone with the same problem. My apple tv seems to be all connected to plexmediaserver, it will play songs on the PMS, but movies it wont. Ive done everything in the instructions, 6 times over. Always creating new certificates, deleting them, reinstalling them, recreating the trailers pem file etc. (Windows 7)
It seems like I got it working ie the trailers app points to my plexmedia server like before apple changed the homescreen to break us with https... I can browse my movie catalogue on my computer with the appletv. Only thing is when you click the movie, it wont go to the next page with the scraped info and says "Trailers is unavailable"
Has anyone any idea how I can have it partly working like this?
trust me ive done everything correct, have the proper files etc. It does kind of work. lol
I can watch the channels ive placed in my plex via the appletv no problem. I can listen to the music songs on my computer no problem.
any ideas whats keeping the movie from actually playing?
I have the same problem, I can view all my movie but when I click a movie I get "trailers is unavailable" when I should get the description/play screen. But the music works fine. ?????? Dam Apple, they had to spoiled the party....
I also have the same problem HOWEVER if you click play on the movie file instead of clicking it to get to the description/play screen it should work as it does for me.
Here is my thread on my problem which is the same as yours - check your plexconnect log to see if you are getting those g_command_collection errors:
Do you use GDM auto discovery? Do you check if the discover reports correct PMS IP? What I got is when trying playback, ATV gave me An error happened.
Check if you enable GDM auto discover PMS, and make sure your plexconnect is transfering DNS and data the the correct IP of PMS. In my case, auto discover PMS gives the IP 192.168.56.1, however my true PMS IP is my desktop IP 192.168.1.2. I disabled the GDM auto discovery, manually set IP_PMS, and the video jumps out.
OMFG that worked! it plays the movie if i hit play! wow! so why are we this close but no cigar! lol

Are you using a Virtual Machine, some kind of port forwarding, or some else? Is there anything somehow special on your setup?
No, I'm running PMS on my pysical win7. I just install the latest PMS build. PMS does not prompt me to enter any IP, all seem auto-way. The strange thing is even I ping 192.168.56.1, it's pingable. Actually my subnet should reside on 192.168.1.x, netmask 255.255.255.0.
im on 5.1 as well, ive been holding off updating so as to not break anything and or in case the eventual jailbreak would only be good for older atv software. so are you saying its ok to update to the latest ATV software?
Back in business!!!! After upgrading to ATV to 5.3, I can now see the Pre-Play window. Thanks for the help. Why apple had to touch that, they allow PLEX app on the IPAD why not on the ATV...
Just one side note, when I open my movies library with the ATV3, it automatically go to "On Deck" and you can see bellow a msg "Accessing Trailer". If I don't let that finish load up and switch to "All Movies" it does the same thing but it goes on forever with "Accessing Trailer".
