Hmm. Thought I had updated this. Was this the file?
“mkv_1920x1080_vc1_8-bit_dts-hd_6ch_[bb789bfc51].mkv”
I’m not seeing any stuttering issues with that.

No. Here is a link to the file:
Huh. I didn’t have that file. I wonder what I tested last time? Anyways, I have it now. Will test soon and get back to you.
Just following up on this. It’s getting old having to switch between the “old” and “new” player depending on which codec the file is using. VC1 needs the “old player” and H264 needs the “new player”. I can manage this for myself (though obnoxious), but I have family members (specifically kids) that need to be able to just hit play.
I’ve done some updates, but this is still a problem.
Currently:
Server: Version 1.31.3.6868
AppleTV Model: A2169
Apple iOS: 16.4.1 (20L498)
Plex Version: 8.17 (5542)
Have you been able to replicate the issue? Any hope in having this fixed? I’d love for it to direct play VC1 as advertised, but at this point, I’d be happy if it just automatically transcoded it.
Anxious to hear about any updates too; just ran into stuttering issues too with a similar setup (ATV 4K, QNAP sever) and have narrowed it down to movies with the VC1 codec.
This is still an ongoing issue. AppleTV4K will stutter while streaming MKVs using the VC1 codec while Direct Playing. Is there any update on this issue?
