Server Version#: 1.28.0.5999 on MacMini (mid2014)
Player Version#: 8.3 (2621) on model A2169 (64GB)
The AppleTV direct plays files with the VC1 codec and stutters. The audio has no problems, it is only the video that stutters. I have tested this with multiple files. All files are uncompressed BD rips.
When I turn on the setting “Use Old Video Player”, it will transcode the file and play without issue. It seems that the new player should be telling the server to transcode the file, but it isn’t doing it.
I had to watch about 9-10 minutes of the video before the issue started. This is similar with the other VC1 codec files I’ve experienced it with.
Please let me know if these are the files you’re looking for. The forum wouldn’t let me upload the XML with an xml extension, so I had to change it to TXT.

That is in your log. Can you replay that file, fast forward to just before the 9 minute mark, let it play and see if you get the issue again before the 10 minute mark? If you do, there may be an issue with the file.
If it take 9-10 minutes every time regardless of the file, there may be some other issue. That error means something broke but we’re not sure exactly what.

I played the movie again starting at about 8 minutes. The stuttering started after playing for about 3-4 minutes.
I also tested two other movies and a television show. The television show started about 2 minutes, while one movie was about 5 and the other about 5.5. I have included the 3 XML files and 2 logs for these videos and attempts.
The AppleTV and server are both connected to the network via ethernet.
I hope this helps. Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.

Sorry about that. Here is the log for the one video played as requested. I started the video between 8 and 9 minutes and it took approximately 3-4 minutes before stuttering.
Thanks. I’m seeing the same error being reported. Let me see if I can reproduce with something I have so I can pass it long to the devs. If not, I’ll need a file from you. Do you have any that are a <500MB in size and can reproduce this problem? I may need that if I can’t reproduce.
Were you able to reproduce this? I’ve tried creating a file that is <500MB that will reproduce the error. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to reproduce the error on a file that small.
Sorry, lost track of this thread. I was not able to reproduce the issue. The VC1 files I have all played fine. It’s very possible that the file itself has an issue when you ripped it. If you are seeing this on multiple files you have, but not all, it could be the ripping software you are using.
If you can get me any file that has this issue so I can reproduce, that would be best. Let’s up the size to 1 GB.
@anon18523487 I was able to get it down to 1.05GB and able to replicate the issue. As I mentioned earlier, this happens with a number of files using the VC1 codec. I have not tested all the ones I have, but this issue isn’t restricted to this one file.
