Right now I use Plex with two types of people, my parents that don’t like horror movies and my girlfriend who loves horror movies but can’t stand low quality movies. Filtering works great to make the selection of movies smaller. But of course the inevitable happens, when watching with my parents I get trailers for horror flicks, when watching with my girlfriend I get trailers for stuff like Alice in Wonderland which I have as a 480P in my library.
The change I would love to see consists of the following options;
- I really think trailers should have their own sub-menu instead of being under “extra’s” to make it easier to find.
- Under or instead of “only show trailers for unwatched movies” add the function to play a certain amount of filtered trailers and a certain amount of unfiltered trailers. This way there can still be variation if a user wants that but it’s possible to only show trailers of filtered movies. When there is no more filtered content available Plex should have the option to show unfiltered ones.
- Picking out movies is hard, even after filtering. Why not add a “show trailers” button and randomly play some trailers.
These changes in my mind would add a lot of functionality to Plex, they would make both the trailer system and the filter system more useful. They would only have to be set up once and would therefore be relatively easy to use.
