Thanks a lot for your afford to successes this approach.
I am not sure is that the correct section or not but I face the problem with my AppleTV3 with PlexConnect and PSM.
The subtitle is solve to shown fro Right to Left ( RTL ) by add ar.srt to the movie name like Avatar.ar.srt but the the characters are not connected together, they are separated.
For Example:
this word should be like this العربيه
not like this ا ل ع ر ب ي ه
I hope that will be considered to fix that in next version.
Yes you are right Baa, the same issue with AppleTV also. But I give you a short brief of the subtitle characters issue that easy to capture.
As I mention in the second line that the problem may exist in Plex Applications at all platform. I hope you to pass it to the proper guy who can fix it.

So it's probably PMS problem ..
There are many problems with RTL in PMS, in hebrew for example the . , ! ? aren't in the right place ..
Just write about it in PMS forum and it'll probably be fixed in a few years ;) (People are asking for good hebrew subtitles for more then 2 years and nothing changed ..)
The subtitles work ok in hebrew if you have them correctly encoded.
Most of what available on the web is not: the creators are putting the last punctuation on each row at the beginning of the line as a workaround for Windows users and some windows-based streamers that show them incorrectly. Fixing this with TextEdit takes two clicks and then exports as a unicode 8 encoding.

The encode is not the problem .. The hebrew subtitles scene is very good with 3 big hebrew subtitles websites, that translating very professionally .. It's a fact that XBMC, Vlc and every other player supports hebrew subtitle will show them good. I don't need to play with the encode of every subtitle i'll download. I am not complaining but just saying-One of the biggest PMS problems is subtitles, it must know the language to show most of the subtitles ok and i'm not talking about fully correct.
When comparing PMS other features to the subtitles, this really not looks like the same app ..
tomer1749 right, the problem is not with the encoding or the direction of letter, the problem is actually with connectivity between the characters and letter. Arabic language is not like the english that separated letter when you type it, it connect together in order to read it. Aslo, I agreed with tomar that issue is related to the PMS programing. I approached the effort that made with the application but we hope that we can see the fix soon.
Well, maybe Tomer's right but I do have hebrew subtitles with correct ponctuation at the end of rows.
Ok, you edited the encode some way. So you thing it's appropriate that mr thamar maybe and i will have to edit the encode of every subtitle we download? If there's an app that can edit encode of all he subtitles i have on my computer and in the next time i'll download i'll only need to drop them to the app it'll be ok. But i can't make even a 4 mins guide for every subtitle i download or i already have.
I had same problem, and I fixed it, download subtitle edit
1,open the srt file in the editor.
2.change format-encoding to UTF-8.
3.save the file.
4.rename the file to theMovieName.ara.srt
5.enjoy it.
This is a known method but it's NOT a solution. A solution is-It should work.
My srt files and the srt's of the man opened this thread are fine. It's just a problem in PMS since 0.9 reported endless times (google it). Anyway it's marked for them but too long and no fix yet. That's why i am so waiting for hebrew subs support in the PlexConnect's subtitles render :)
hello;
I had the same probleme the characters are separate, to solve it you can paste your text in this converter and arabic keyboard and it will be adapted to be readable.
