My ISP has instituted a data cap, so I’m curious how much (if any) Plex uses to stream if I limit to streaming from devices on local Wi-Fi. I know in theory, streaming from a local server to another local device should mean the majority of the bandwidth is local only. Just to verify, though, are there any “hidden” connections to the internet that are made to use internet bandwidth, or is it kept strictly local?
The only connection needed is to authenticate usernames / devices when you connect to your server unless you’ve turned that all off .
Be advised, If you do turn it off, sign your server out, and sign your browser out, your Plex Pass will not function.
Good to know. Thanks for the quick reply!
