Are we geting closer to watching in-progress recordings?

I see you can now watch live tv on plex web but you still cannot watch an in-progress recording. Is this on the roadmap?

I know from reading around that it’s a highly requested feature, and I believe someone in a more official capacity said it was in the works.
One thing is for certain; they will not release a date. It will come when it comes.

Yes you can now…on selected clients. I tested it on my NVIDIA Shield TV and it works. I also tested it on my Rokus and it is not there yet.

Plex Media Server 1.10.0.4516 - NEW:
(Live) Added the ability to seek within an active recording, with client support (#7270)

Is Nvidia Shield TV the only client that currently supports watching a recording in-progress?

seems to work on my fire stick (or at least that’s what it seems like) but the way this functionality is delivered is not intuitive. In order to ‘see’ it, you have to go to “Watch Now” and tune in to a show already being recorded (at least for the most part there is visual cue for what is being recorded). Ultimately a show that is currently recording would show in the library (a la WMC) so you can start it from there.

Maybe it needs to show in the library as the recording is started as a placeholder. This would allow you to select it from there instead. That would be more intuitive to me.

It’s been working on android for at least a couple of weeks

When I tested this, it would not start at the beginning of the recording. I was using the Web Client.

just tried it on my shield. I was able to watch live tv but was unable to watch the inprogress recording from the point I started recording.

It should prompt you when you start it. Start at the beginning of the recording X minute ago or watch now (something like that).

You can also RW or jump to the start of the recording inside the OSD. If not check to see if you have the latest version.

If you don’t have this yet, then I might have just let the cat out of the bag on the beta version.
