I have a nice and neat FLAC music folder. The paths use the ARTIST/(YEAR) ALBUM/TRACKNUMBER TRACKNAME.flac format. Each album folder also holds it’s own “folder.jpg” for the album art. Altogether this is great in Plex - I’ve got each album and it’s artwork appearing in a CD Collection library. Golden.
However, I’m not going go out hunting for artist artwork and backgrounds - I’d like Plex along with Last.FM to handle that for me.
So my question is… Is it possible to set up a library in such as way that ALBUM information is handled by local tags/artwork while the ARTIST information is handled by Last.fm?
In theory, if you’ve configured Plex to use Local Media Assets, it will use whatever local assets you have (folder.jpg, etc.), and will fill in any missing information from the online agents, in the order you define in the Settings > Server > Agents page.
By the way, if your music album is a Premium album, it will use Gracenote rather than last.FM.

I use the last.fm music library a lot and what you are asking for should be exactly how it works, already by default. What are you seeing instead?
(Side note: last.fm agent does not provide backgrounds, htpc backdrops and the fanart.tv agents are the only ones that does - get a free API key on fanart.tv and input that into the agent and drag that to the top, you will not regret this)

Yes, sure. That’s why there are separate Artists and Albums agents.
Just move the ‘Local Media Assets’ agents to the top for Albums,
but move the ‘Last.fm’ agent to the top for Artists.
