Artists-Data from Last.fm and Album-Data only from local Metadata
Hi,
I'm currently playing with the settings of the Metadata Agents before scanning my Music-Library. I did a few tests and i'm impressed with the results of Plex getting information about the artists (Band-Photograph ...). Unfortunately the album results are sometimes very strange, so I want to mix the power of getting the metadata for artists from Last.FM with getting the metadata for albums (Covers, etc.) >only< from the ID3-Tags stored in the local files (Personal Media Albums).
I found no solution in the GUI of the Plex Media Manager itself so I searched in the settings and the contents of the bundles but so far I didn't found the possibility to mix those settings. Anyone can give me a hint please?
I think I am interested in this as well. I have all my music on my nas and have a music section using that path setup in plex. When I browse to the music section in plex I see all ~2500 artists with a default plex icon.
If I click on one of the artists I will see the album cover art without a problem. My entire collection is meticulous with metadata and cover art.
When I first started with plex it was the opposite, it would show these random pictures under the artists (picked up from google images or maybe last.fm? I have no idea) but showed none of my cover art embedded in the mp3.
After checking the forums and modifying my settings I was able to get where I am now with no artists pictures and all my album cover art.
Is there a way to get the best of both worlds? I would like to see those random pictures under artists and see my cover art under albums…
Yes, I second that. I use the Personal Media Artist agent. In Album view I can see my album cover art and genres that are embedded in my MP3 files. But in Artist View I get nothing.
Sorry to bump such an old thread but is there a way to do this? Last.fm album matching is broke and mixing art across different albums. I’d prefer to use my metadata with albums but have the nice artist information from Last.fm.
