Artist Poster Not Showing

I’m trying to rebuild my music library with all local metadata and I can’t seem to get the artist picture to show up. I’ve tried what seems like everything suggested in other threads but nothing seems to work.

I’ve tried

  • Refreshing all metadata.
  • Emptying trash.
  • Plex dance.
  • Alternate names for the artist picture (currently have it artist-poster.jpg but have tried poster and a few others).
  • Changing the scanner and agent settings.
    - Tried both Plex Music and Personal Media Artists.
  • Creating a new library.

Here is the folder structure I am using, from my understanding it should work.

/TV Soundtracks
    /Zimmer, Hans
        artist-poster.jpg
        /Pirates of the Caribbean_ At World's End [2007]
            /Disc 1
                1-01 Hoist the Colours.flac

Before I started re-doing my music library, I had my soundtracks ordered by movie producer. I’m not sure what I did differently, but with the same folder structure I had 4/9 artist pictures show up. Now since I’ve moved to the composer of the soundtrack, none of the artist pictures show up.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Because nothing seems to work.

What does your overall folder structure look like (starting from the folder you added to the library)?
Looking at the below post, I would suggest trying something like this (having the artist poster on the artist level rather than on the album level):

/Music
   /Pink Floyd
      artist-poster.jpg
      /Wish You Were Here
         01 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V).m4a
         02 - Welcome to the Machine.mp3
         03 - Have a Cigar.mp3
   /Foo Fighters
      /One By One
      /There is Nothing Left to Lose
   /U2
      /Joshua Tree

Sorry, I should of used markdown with my last example. It wasn’t very clear. Yours is pretty much how I have mine.

/TV Soundtracks

        artist-poster.jpg

That exact structure actually works for me. I just added an artist-poster.jpg like so:

/media
  /Audiobooks
    /J-K-Rowling
      artist-poster.jpg
      /Harry-Potter-and-[...]

One metadata refresh on the artist and the image showed up. Just to eliminate one thing: What do your artist agent and library settings look like? Here are mine.

I did just try with your exact settings, and when I refreshed the metadata I did get an artist picture this time. However, it was not my local one. For one of the artists it was a completely different group instead of the composer.

Here are my settings that I’ve been trying to get it to work with.

Does Plex recognize your artists’ names correctly? I personally have not tried the lastname, firstname format.

Regarding the settings: I’m not that familiar with audio library settings. So I would just test each setting separately. Change one at a time to what I was using and see if makes a difference.

I tried switching over one of my artists to firstname lastname but the art still doesn’t show up with plex dance / refresh metadata.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll keep trying to see if I can figure it out.
