Let’s say I have in my discography Captain Hollywood and also Captain Hollywood Project… it’s the same artist but some singles were released under different name.
Is there any option I can tie those two names so in the Music database I see only eg. Captain Hollywood and under this artist I can find all the singels and albums.
The same is for Mark’ Oh and Mark 'Oh
You can simply “Merge” the two artists.
What I did for these is use the ALBUM ARTIST metadata tag to group them since there is a main artist. The Mothers of Invention, The Mothers, Mothers, Frank Zappa are all variations of what Frank Zappa recorded under. So I have the “ARTIST” tag correctly name the band variation of the album, and then use the “ALBUM ARTIST” tag as Zappa, Frank so that they all group under him as a main artist.
I do the same thing with Neil Young, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, etc. I’ll often do this too if there is a one off solo album from someone in the group, just to bung it in chronology wise with the main artist. If there is an entire solo career, like John Lennon, I’d keep it separate.

There’s a problem with this approach if you use Last.fm.
When you scrobble from Plex, it sends Plex’s Album Artist as a Last.fm Album Artist.
As a result, the tracks from “Freak Out” will be scrobbled as “Mothers of Invention” tracks and won’t be associated with any album in your Last.fm library, while “Freak Out” itself will be scrobbled as a “Frank Zappa” album, which is incorrect.
Plex should introduce another metadata field for artist aliases, that wouldn’t corrupt scrobbling.
As a hack you can try disabling scrobbling in Plex and use a third-party script on your media server, that would use Track Artists as Album Artists, though it might be suboptimal too.
That’s valid. At the end of the day, regardless of band name it’s a Frank Zappa album in this case, but yeah, if you want that tight of scrobbling metrics it would be incorrect. I haven’t scrobbled in ages, and when I did, I was fine with Freak Out going towards Frank Zappa instead of Mothers of Invention.
