Asking here now as it never got answered in the Smart TV Forum;
I seem to have a problem with the LG TV App - Movies play perfectly from the plex server on my LG using DLNA player, PLAYz just not the LG Plex App. Started only 2-3 weeks ago and initinally I thought it was my media being the problem hence testing it in all the other available apps, Android, Web, etc are all perfect still.
The aspect ratio is squashed and stretched no matter which TV Aspect Ratio it is in, This now occurs with every movie on my system. Logs attached.
So far I’ve completely reinstalled the Server and rebuilt the library with no joy, DirectPlay disabling makes no difference on mine at all. I even did a factory reset on the TV just incase the plex app had some stored config that was screwing it up. Nothing.
Still no update…But the latest Server update made no difference, but then I’m sure we now know it’s the PLEX app.
3 years as a member and to date not a single support issue has been answered, I’m starting to think the bigger they get the less of a ■■■■ they give. Time to start looking at the alternatives again…sigh.

with plex add version 2.5 on it.
I checked if I have issues with playing movies, that they get stretched, I played several different movies, but all play fine
I can even adjust the aspect ratio on the TV if I want.
PLex App: 2.5.7
LG Model: 42LB650V-ZN
WebOS 5.00.55
Initially it was only doing this on the Official LG Plex App, but now it’s started doing it on Xplay and Playz also, Xplay was my goto when the app started screwing up the aspect. I’ve confirmed that DirectPlay is running still. There’s no directplay on the PlexApp though it always transcodes.
Rebuilt the server and the library, Clean OS Build and still the same issue. Aspect ratio changing on the TV doesn’t correct the image, original aspect setting always shows the movie in a 4:3 format with no black bars.
Play it on Plex Web Player and it’s all perfect, go figure…Total mystery.
Still having the same issue here…Anyone??? Help. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve cleared the config, clean machine, clean install, Same every time. Is it really Direct still not working?
Problem solved. Factory reset on the LG TV solves it. So I ran it with no issues for around 2 weeks and then it went back to incorrect aspect with stretching again. This time I made sure no other apps were installed alongside Plex. Factory reset again and it was resolved again. Bit of a pain really.
