Hello Everyone,
I just bought a ultra widescreen with a 21:9 ratio. I was wondering if anyone knows how to search for movies using the ratio. I know you can search for 1080p or 720p files but is there a way to look for a ratio (ie 2.35 instead of 1.87).
IF there currently is no way to do this I was hoping we could make this possible. I very much want to make a playlist that is all my anamorphic movies.

There is no search field for this directly in Plex; however, you could add ExportTools (formerly Plex2csv) as a plugin to your PMS. This plugin exports the contents of your library to a spreadsheet. One of the export fields is aspect ratio, and you could easily sort the spreadsheet and create a playlist from that.
Only way I know of is either datamining the DB or exporting it then going back and manually tagging them
If on linux I’d write up a mediainfo script that would parse and dump movies with that AR you want then tag them in plex
Use that tag as your playlist

Yes, I am in an Apple ecosystem and use the tool.
sorry to bother you again OmegaRed but when i downloaded the tool there was no install file. and when i opened it it just opened terminal with a blank screen. how does this tool work?
It’s a plug-in, not a standalone application. You need to place the .bundle file that you downloaded into the plug-ins folder for PMS. On a Mac, use the Go to Folder command (CMD+Shift+G), navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins and drop the bundle there. Restart your PMS. After that, you will find the plug-in listed under ‘Channels’ on PlexWeb. I recommend taking a moment to read the ExportTools wiki for tips on configuring the output.

Then you can install/update the exporter easily and also have a bunch of nifty other tools
