AT&T Direct Now

I have Direct now from AT&T, which is a TV streaming option and I was wondering if there is a way to connect it to the Plex live for TV and DVR options. anyone?

No, Plex Live TV / DVR does not work with streaming services. It works with tuners that are either connected to unencrypted cable or an antenna for free over the air channels.

It would be great if there was an add-on for it.

That will must likely never happing unless Plex decided to get in to TV streaming which mean they have to pull FCC Broadcast License in order to do that.
Don’t forget you be force to watch commercials no skipping those ads and as I under stand it there DVR side sink and I want it my way not there way.
And they have only one user profiles which sink and only two streams where PS Vue is better but the 28 day time limit just sink and then there YouTube better but not unlimited

I don’t know why they would need a license to have a Directv Now Plugin. It would only work if the proper credentials were given to Directv and Directv allowed the stream. Directv would have all the control over content and the ability to DVR or not.

They would still have to work with DirecTV to make all that happen and generally speaking, 99% of the time, content providers really don’t want their content accessible via 3rd-party apps not directly on their control.

Right you are,…

For some reason this reminded me of Hulu Desktop,…anyone remember that app?

As well as early implementations of Playon which were able to access free Hulu way back when Hulu had a free option.

IMO the future may well be streaming. If so it would be ideal to have a single application solution to group them all together and access these free + pay streams. In other words a kind of Media Center for streaming services while allowing for OTA ATSC 3.0 and locally stored media,…ect,

well Directv may have it easier using a platform that already work as opposed to creating one with all the app ui’s. But hey why save money when you just charge more. That doesn’t include all the bugs and glitches they’ve had issues with. No one is going to switch when they have to have a Roku for Netflix and AFTV for Directv Now.
