As you probably know, the new DirecTV Now service does not offer any kind of DVR service. I have both the DirecTV satellite service and the Apple TV DirecTV Now app. As far as you know, can HDHomerun work with DirecTV now?
Also, what I meant to say is that I’m looking to ditch my satellite subscription but as DTV Now doesn’t offer DVR services, I’m looking for a work around. Thanks!

Hdhomerun only works with cable and over the air channels.
It’s not compatible with satellite TV or internet streaming services like DirectTV now.
Direct TV now is a streaming service. Most likely they will want you to use on demand streaming as a DVR replacement and not store it locally. You could still attach a hd homerun Turner and record OTA content.
Yea, the only way this would work would be through some legal grey area means. Such as getting advanced packet monitors, using something like youtube-dl and a few other tools, etc - writing your own post-processing scripts to encode the video and store it somewhere inside of Plex.
This is very, very much outside the realm of Plex. But I feel your pain - I use Sling and it also does not have DVR functionality (though it’s supposed to be coming very soon). It would be nice to tie Plex into my streaming solution and utilize the DVR feature to store the shows locally for viewing later.
The only other way I could see something like this working is if someone develops a new channel for Plex that can log into those streaming services, and then utilize the Plex DVR feature to store the data locally.
For now, however, you’ll have to go through a custom, homegrown setup, and it very likely will break the TOS and EULA with said streaming solution.
Sling does have dvr for like $5 a month.

Great service bit doesn’t have some of the channels I want hence Directv now. Got the promo where I paid 4 months in advanced to get free Apple tv. I would stay if i could dvr on my own. We’ll see what happens.
@Mcforman Just an FYI, DirecTV Now is beta testing their DVR service. I am a beta tester. It works pretty well so far. I reached out to the DrirecTV Now twitter account to request access to the beta and a few weeks later I got an email about it.
Either way, I do think it should be generally available in the next few months I would guess.
